The War of the League of Augsburg once again occupied all of Europe from 1689.

Conan I decides to complete the conquest of Patagonia. It is his 2nd son Hercule who leads the army of Upper Peru with limited objectives.
His 1st son Jean leads the Paraguayan army against Dutch Argentina.

To the west, Prince Hercule, who had 8,000 men, encountered only weak resistance and advanced as far as Puno in 1691. The fortifications of the city were unfinished. Then he goes south and takes the small towns of Patagonia one by one. He besieged Cordoba, the only truly fortified city, for three weeks, taking it in April 1693.
But it was repulsed at the Battle of Santa Fe on May 12, 1693 by the Dutch.

For his part, Crown Prince Jean mobilized a river fleet with 15,000 men on 150 barges to take Argentine, defended by 11,000 Dutch. But he was beaten twice in September 1691 and in June 1693 in front of Parana.

Conan I then relieves Jean of his duties and entrusts them to Hercule who deplored the lack of coordination.
He gave up facing the Dutch river fleet and installed 30,000 men on the Uruguay (at Sault Hercule) to harass their rear. Outnumbered, they are then forced to abandon Parana and Santa Fe.

In January 1695 the Brazilians had enough forces to besiege Argentina. And on February 2, 1695 in front of Buenos Aires, the Brazilian fleet won. Deprived of this rear base, without help from Europe, the Dutch had to capitulate in April 1695.
