1514-1516: The crisis of Maquahie

What if the colonization of Vinland had succeeded?

In 1495 Kebec set up a colony in Maquahie, an officially dependent territory of New England.

In 1510 the colonial power of Nouvelle Angleterre undertook to establish its control over the west coast of North Vinland, which had been deserted until then.
Several colonies based on monastic colonies were established in Ollonie from 1510 to 1520 but also in Maquahie from 1513.
In 1514 a Norman flotilla attacks and seizes the small colony of Kebec of Castle St John at the mouth of the Ouimaillie River.

The Grand Duke of Kebec Wulfnoth X (1489-1511-1549) demands compensation and threatens war.
Richard VIII of Normandite (1493-1508-1517) whose army suffered from underinvestment preferred to negotiate and ceded Maquahie north of the Ouimaillie River to Kebec in 1516.

This crisis has an impact on the political stability of Normandite.
The young prince Richard VIII (23 years old en 1516) has psychological problems. Extremely shy, one would say autistic today, it is his mother Anne of New England (1463-1521) who rules. She lacks authority. The bourgeoisie took advantage of this to evade taxes, corruption spread in the army and the administration.
The younger brother of the Prince, Edouard is on the contrary a brutal, angry and cruel person. He criticizes his older brother for his cowardice and even a smear campaign against him.
On April 21, 1517, during a family celebration intended to reconcile the family, Edouard got angry and killed his brother with a punch. Despite this crime, he is the heir and becomes the new prince under the name of Edouard III.
