Description
What if Brittany had still been independent when America was discovered?
Here is that story!

Jean VI wants to establish a heavily fortified city to make New Brittany difficult to conquer.
Thus in 1503 Port Conan was moved to its final site and the construction of its castle began. The fortifications of the city follow from 1508 first through the upper town.
In total there are 2500 m of walls 3 meters thick for 6 meters high on average, 9 fortified gates, 9 towers 10 to 12 meters in diameter and 7 large cannon towers 20 meters in diameter.
They are 3 enclosures: the castle, the upper town and the lower town. The protected living area is 150,000 m2.
This represents 90,000 tons of masonry and will require 16 years of work (1503-1519) for 300 workers. In total, this project costs 200,000 TL. This is the cost of building a large castle in Europe. A large part of the cost includes the price of the workers' trip. 2,400 workers will follow one another on the site, including 1,400 Indians (most of them in forced labor). 1,200 Indians will die - mostly of disease - on the site against 600 bretons.
The city is designed to accommodate up to 5,000 inhabitants, i.e. approximately 500 plots, the sale of which will bring in 100,000 LT.
When the site was completed in 1519, the defensive system with its round towers and its (skinny) Gothic decor were already out of date in Europe. The cannons that equip the castle are also recycled, Jean VI not having the means to make new ones. The cathedral is still only a building of wood and adobe covered with straw.
However, taking this city requires thousands of soldiers. Only a great European nation could afford such an expedition.
