Description

What if the colonization of Vinland had succeeded?
Here is that story!
------------------------
Map 29

-----------------------

In 1430 Vinland had around 19,000,000 inhabitants, including 3,773,700 whites and metis (20%). A century before, its population was rather around 50,000,000 with 509,500 whites and metis (1%).

This upheaval is mainly due to the collapse of the Indian population victim of the terrible epidemics which arrive with the Europeans. In New England the Indians have lost 90% of their numbers in a century and are finally stabilizing. In Southern Vinland, colonized 30 years later, the population decline continues.

Of course, the demographic growth of populations of European origin is also considerable, with a rate of doubling every 35 years.

In one century 315,000 Vinlanders and 165,000 Europeans arrived in New Vinland. Settler life is hard and between 30 and 40% died in the year of their arrival without having descendants – often from hunger or disease. The Vinlanders resisted better because many were peasants while the Europeans included many city dwellers and former soldiers unable to feed themselves.

These 480,000 immigrants left 634,7000 descendants (including 231,700 metis).
The English are 26% and are mainly present in Izabal, the Normans are 67% and the Italians 7% (especially in Yucatan).

The free natives are 1,900,000 in the north and 4,000,000 in the south.

Normandite:
with its protectorate of New England (2,799,200 inhabitants including 418,200 whites and metis) has a total of 12,112,700 inhabitants including 3,773,700 whites and metis (31%), 64% of the continent's population.
The leading ethnic group, the white Normans, are 1,994,800. Their language is close to French.

Kebec:
with 991,000 inhabitants. of which only 31,000 are in the Mississippi basin, it is the second largest state on the continent, far behind Normandite.
All inhabitants are considered white and "English". But in fact they speak an English much closer to Old English than the standard English of the time.

There are two European settlements:

English Maragnonia established in 1418 with 4600 inhabitants including 1200 settlers

Castilian Pernambuco established in 1393 with 28,000 inhabitants including 5,000 settlers.
The Castilians also expelled the French in 1417, taking advantage of the Anglo-French wars.
