Description
What if the colonization of Vinland had succeeded?
Here is that story!------------------------
Map 14
-----------------------
In July 1219, Richard de Crewkerne captured Normandite. He tries to rally to him the baron of Kebec, Léofwine II but he refuses.
In August 1219 Richard launched an assault on Hartoft but the inhabitants, especially the English, repelled him.Richard continues his raids and seizes New Anjou (also called Nouvanjou).
However in 1221 a truce was concluded.
In 1235 King Henry III of England finally stabilized his kingdom and could take care of Vinland. He negotiated the resumption of the Middle Islands and Normandy from the King of Castile Ferdinand III, successor to the King of León.
Henry III removes control of Vinland from the Abbot of St Laurent and appoints a Bishop and Sheriff, William of Wells (1195-1236-1247), for what becomes Vinland Shire.
Henri III recognized the Barony of Kebec in 1237, 128 years after its foundation.
The Middle Islands are distributed among nine lords, one per island.
In 1241 the Sheriff De Wells tries to invade Normandite and drive out Richard. Richard responds by occupying St Laurent.
De Wells must negotiate and recognize Richard as Baron de Normandite. He must however separate from Nouvanjou for his 2nd son and admit the authority of the Bishop of Hartoft: this is the Treaty of St Laurent.
