After Amaury's defeat at Kebec, the English of Hartoft revolt and take the Black Tower. The Normans of St Laurent remain faithful to the new abbot and the Peninsular Vinland finds itself cut in two.

In 1170 King Henry II sent an armed force of 500 men to restore order. It is led by Henry II of Crewkerne (1140-1182), descendant of Wulfnoth Svenson.

Henri de Crewkerne quickly defeats the Vinland rebels at the Battle of Black Lake. He then turns to Kebec. Not having enough resources for a frontal assault, he sought a way to rally the enemies of the Algonquins and Kebec, the Iroquois.

Crewkerne then explores the south of the country and discovers the St Marie river which leads him directly to the country of the Iroquois (1171). However, it was necessary to wait for the founding of several establishments, including Henriville in 1175, to lead an attack on Kebec.

In 1179 Crewkerne launches the assault on Kebec. A column leaves from the southern country with 1000 Iroquois, 100 soldiers and 200 militiamen. Another column by Vinland with 300 soldiers and 200 militiamen. On June 1, the Vinland fleet arrived in front of Kebec. The Iroquois arrived 20 days later which gave Baron Wulfnoth II (1125-1173-1187) time to prepare.

Kebec is abandoned without a fight and the Baron locks himself in his new castle with 500 men. It is not yet finished but imposes a complicated siege. The siege of the Baron’s Castle lasted 39 days when a smallpox epidemic struck the besiegers. Many Iroquois succumbed and deserted. Crewkerne must lift the siege and return to Vinland.  Henri de Crewkerne was recalled by King Henri II in 1181. He let Abbot Roger de Longue (1129-1211) run the country.The 1st Vinland War ends here.
