James Cameron did a tremendous job on Avatar. There are few implausibilities compared to other sci-fi films, but there are still some. So I'm looking for minor flaws.
It's muscle mass that counts when calculating power. Here, at 5.7 tons, that's about 12 times the power of a horse. A whale can weigh up to 190 tons, but it doesn't fly.
The figures I have for Pandora are 80% of Earth's gravity (7.8 m/s²) and 120% of Earth's atmosphere (1.2 bar pressure).
My Pandora/Atlantis version is 47% of Earth's gravity (4.58 m/s²) and 400% of Earth's atmosphere (4 bars pressure). This is more favorable for large flying animals.
Note: gravity doesn't matter for a balloon; only air density counts. For birds, however, lower gravity is another advantage.

Je fais un décompte démographique précis et de plein d’autres paramètres. Sinon c’est difficile de jauger les rapports de forces. Et j’essaye de comprendre les ressorts derrière les mécaniques historiques.
