I already heard it while brushing Hickory in the stables, rain. And now when we walked up to the arena it began to rain even harder. What a nice day to ride a show...

This was the first show ever of this 4 year old stallion so I decided to take him here. Just to get some experience, show clothing wasn't a need but I dressed up in it. Just to give him the 'experience'

'Riders and horses for the pleasure class may enter the arena' the commentator said. I slightly pushed him with my heels letting him walk into the arena. We nearly had a half round done when the sign for a jog was given. 'Jog please jog' I heard and I saw Hickory's ears twitch. I slightly smiled before letting him jog. The sound of the arena, now with water on some places, was nice to hear. For me it stood for friends, horses and fun. For Hickory it stood for humans, work (which he loved) and fun.

We were asked for a lope, and when in it I saw the water splatting up. 'Oh help, Hickory you will be as dirty as a pig when we are done...' I softly whispered. He moved his ears backwards, to me, as he really listened. 'Concentrate' I said to myself when the judge asked us to get back to a walk. He listened very well and slowed down to a nice bakanced walk. We finished the rest of the routine with ease. This was definitly a good experience for him.

I patted Hickory on his neck 'Good job boy' if horses could smile he definitly was. I looked at his legs and saw that the mud even came to his brest. We really gotta change his tack and then give him a well earned shower
