Chapter 8: A Hyde Amongst Us

Prologue: The Curse of the Bloodline
The film opens through fragmented comic-book-style panels, much like Hulk (2003).
In 1978 London, renowned scientist Dr. Henry Jekyll conducts forbidden experiments attempting to isolate humanity’s darker impulses. He believes evil is a biological force that can be removed from the human soul.
Ignoring warnings from his colleagues, Henry tests a serum on himself.
For a brief moment he succeeds.
Then something goes terribly wrong.
His body mutates into a monstrous figure known only as Hyde.
The transformation leaves dozens dead.
The incident is covered up and Henry dies shortly afterward, leaving behind his young grandson son Edward Jekyll.
Present Day
Decades later, Edward Jekyll works at BioGen Industries, researching emotional suppression therapies for military PTSD victims.
Edward is quiet, withdrawn, and obsessed with controlling anger.
Unlike everyone around him, he refuses to discuss his father.
His only connection is fellow scientist Helen Lanyon, who once planned to marry him before Edward pushed her away.
While examining his father’s hidden research, Edward discovers an encrypted journal revealing a horrifying truth:
Henry’s experiments never ended.
The altered genetic condition was inherited.
Edward carries Hyde inside him.
The Accident
Desperate to cure himself before the condition emerges, Edward secretly recreates the serum.
During a late-night experiment, a power surge overloads the laboratory.
The unstable formula enters his bloodstream.
The agony is unbearable.
Bones crack.
Muscles expand.
His skin turns green.
His eyes become predatory.
The first Modern Hyde is born.
Hyde destroys half the laboratory before escaping into the city.
Edward awakens the next morning with no memory of what happened.
The Hunt Begins
Government investigator Gabriel Utterson arrives to investigate the disaster.
Security footage reveals a massive green humanoid tearing through steel walls.
Edward becomes the prime suspect.
As stress increases, Hyde begins emerging more frequently.
Unlike a traditional monster, Hyde represents every emotion Edward suppresses:
Rage
Jealousy
Fear
Violence
Pride
Each transformation becomes larger and more powerful.
Flashbacks and Trauma
Throughout the story, fragmented memories reveal Edward’s childhood.
Edward’s Father was not merely a scientist.
He was obsessed.
He subjected his son to emotional conditioning experiments.
Edward grew up believing anger was evil.
Any display of emotion resulted in punishment.
The film gradually reveals that Hyde isn’t an outside force.
It is Edward’s repressed humanity twisted into a monster.
Return to London
Following clues hidden in Henry’s journals, Edward travels back to London.
There he discovers the ruins of the original Jekyll estate.
Beneath the mansion lies a forgotten laboratory.
Inside are recordings revealing the existence of Simon Hyde, Edward’s grandfather.
Simon was the first successful Hyde.
Unlike Henry, Simon embraced the transformation.
He became a serial killer who vanished decades earlier.
Edward realizes the curse spans generations.
The True Villain
Dr. Hastie Carew secretly obtains samples of Edward’s blood.
Believing Hyde can become the ultimate weapon, Carew recreates the formula.
He injects himself.
The experiment succeeds—
for a moment.
Carew mutates into a grotesque oversized Hyde known as Prime Hyde.
Unlike Edward’s form, Prime Hyde lacks intelligence and becomes consumed by bloodlust.
London descends into chaos.
Final Battle
Prime Hyde rampages through the city.
Edward tries desperately to remain human.
But when Helen is nearly killed, he finally stops fighting his emotions.
Instead of suppressing Hyde, he accepts him.
Transformation erupts for the final time.
Modern Hyde emerges stronger than ever.
The battle tears through abandoned factories, bridges, and city streets.
Prime Hyde overwhelms him initially.
But Edward’s Hyde possesses something Carew lacks:
A human conscience.
After a brutal fight, Hyde defeats Prime Hyde by triggering an explosion inside the abandoned laboratory where the curse began.
Prime Hyde is consumed in the fire.
Acceptance
The government arrives too late.
Edward disappears into the night.
Officially, he is presumed dead.
Helen receives one final letter:
“I spent my life believing Hyde was the monster.
The truth is he was only the part of me I feared most.
Now we learn to live together.”
Ending
Months later, reports emerge from around the world.
Drug cartels vanish overnight.
Human traffickers are found crushed in abandoned warehouses.
A mysterious green giant is seen walking away before authorities arrive.
Edward has become a wandering vigilante.
Not cured.
Not fully human.
Not a full monster.
But finally free.
Post-Credit Scene
In a hidden Prodigium laboratory, a mysterious figure reviews files labeled:
Dracula
Frankenstein
Invisible Man
Wolf Man
Gill-Man
The Mummy
Hyde
The figure revealed to the Director: Adam smiles.
A ring bearing the symbol of the Dark Universe Society glimmers in the darkness.
“The age of monsters has begun.”
