An Anthozoaborg is machine colony organism hybrid something like a coral reef cyborg.  This one is roaming the desert in a future southern New Mexico.  It has three large group community collections and a set of shared bio and mecha motility flanges (legs).  

Such creatures will arise from the technological remains of humanity after the Earth has finished with us.  We live at the pleasure of the Earth and it is likely that our main purpose is to seed ecosystems with feral technology to enable a new semi-intelligent evolutionary phase on of life.

Concepts such as species,  Darwinian selection, and biome will no longer be adequate to describe the development of life on Earth.  Organisms will blend with Turing-capable information processing agents, von Neumann machines, and biological agents with extra-evolutionary modifications.  These organisms will engage in Lamarckian evolution, extensive morphological mimicry, pan-genetic encoding of biological information and the corruption of  replication cycles that drive the standard dogma of evolutionary biology.
