My first ever go at watercolour.
I was somewhat ok about this painting, it being my first.
I think the yellow and green non-earthy tones sort of ruin it and look out of place.
I found this extremely difficult, especially since i am normally a black and white artist.

I love the soft impressionistic sort of style of this. Lovely.

The yellow and green work well here for shading and contrast. One of the ways of creating a stimulating and interesting visual image is shading with a contrasting colour [such as reds with greens]. This works well, and it's great for a first attempt with watercolour!
The wishy-washy blends of colour and the sharp edges, lines, and borders work fantastically to bring the image together, and it's a look I have tried to get in watercolour for years now in repeat paintings and generally have been unsuccessful.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment and the fav.
I think your strongest point in your art is probably your oil paintings. They're trully amazing.

You're welcome - and thank you! Unfortunately I don't have much time for painting or a drive really to get one done. It goes in fits and streaks. I'll get in the mood to paint, it'll last a few days, then be gone again. I was in a mood like that shortly after I got back from camp this past June but I didn't know where any of my supplies were until after the fact. I've been waiting to be in the mood to paint a cat for well over a year now, and the opportunity hath been lost!

I've fallen so out of touch with my art these past few months really, it's a killer. I'm glad I'm getting back into sketching again and actually liking the results... which is a big change for me since typically I hate my sketches and it is the inking that either makes or breaks it for me. Perhaps it's because I like to ink, or at least I used to, or maybe it's just because I used to sketch so terribly. At least now things I sketch [since my return to camp] tend to actually look like what they should! [such as the sketch of a shar-pei I posted.. not only does it look like a shar-pei, but it actually looks like the particular dog I was drawing... which scared me since it usually doesn't work quite right for me]!

My apologies for the long-winded comment!

no need to apologise. I love long comments, especially since i'm the type that does them too.
I understand completely what you mean by being in the mood. When i do finally get in the mood its normally at an inappropriate time (like in the middle of chemistry class) or during exam times. No wonder i'm failing year 12!
