Brain Tower by Almacan Brain Tower by Almacan
This work is remake of my old work "The Tower of Beetle".
"The Tower of Beetle" was made ten years ago.
I was interested how to change a past vision by my imagination now.
And I newly added taste of the German expressionism such as Dr.Caligari
and Nosferatu.

Modeled and rendered with Shade, ZBrush (Man's face model)
The composition, the tonal correction and the background
were made with Photoshop.

I think this is the best art in your gallery. I like the mechanic theme and your attention to details. You have to be a master for remaking your own work ten years later.

I particularily like this piece because, ( I don't know if it was intentional) it shows how man, try as he may, will never become the god he thinks of himself as. The story of the tower of Babel tells it like it is.
This piece shows the unfinished attempt of man to build his brain tower to heaven. His attempts are creative and mechanical, yet all the time balancing on the delicate edge of destruction. Held together by threads of hope and miles of empty tubes pumping a constant supply of ego.
He has set his scope of focus single-mindedly on his own achievments, flawed as they always are.
His face of stone has begun to crack and it won't be long before the foundation crumbles and all that he has worked for and toiled for will come to nothing.
His only faint glimmer of hope is his long forgotten hope in HIS creator. The small crosses at the bottom of the composition seem symbolic of the fact that God no longer holds the highest spot in man's quest. He, God, the true creator, has now become an embellishment on the garments of a society of megalomaniacs.
That's the story that I see in this brilliant composition. I hope you didn't mind the long winded explanation.

You're very welcome, I've passed your artwork on to other friends to check out. It's not only, beautiful and wlee executed, but sometimes very thought provoking. I was so impressed with your 'Brain Tower' (formerly 'Tower of Beetle'), that I posted an open forum in my journal discussing the visual symbolism I was seeing in the composition. I've had several interesting comments since.
If you have a chance check ou my Steampunk Battle Helmet under weaponry in my gallery. I do 3D pieces that I compose from bits and pieces of electronics and household items. The challenging part is attaching everything together. I then paint and add smaller detail to them and try to come up with a story line describing the features of the proposed weapon.

Breath-taking. Incredible detail that is an outstanding show of tedious care and amazing talent. I'm blown away. The perspective is dizzy-ing and the texture you've managed to capture is dead-on true to the assuming eye.
Had to share this with another lover of industrial pieces.

pitty for some textures that are making this too plastic-looking, but only the fact that it's steam punk is making it so awesome that I'm able to ignore it:D
