No Commitment

Rather simple, but I think it's ok.

This piece actually almost made itself. I started off with the background. It's a great background. I thought it might be nice to have a couple walking down the hall. So I found a lovely picture of a couple with their arms wrapped around each other. Perfect. I cut it out and pasted it onto the background, and where it pasted felt absolutely right. No moving or resizing or anything. But then because the couple was so far away, I decided someone/something needed to be in the foreground. I don't even remember how I stumbled upon the pic of ~WolfcatStock. But when I cut her out and pasted her in, all I had to do was flip her around and move her to the edge. Then I added the sign and tweaked the lighting and shadows of the people to make them blend in better. Time for a texture. Sometimes it takes me ages to find just the right texture, with the right color, texturing, settings, etc. The one I decided to use caught my eye. I really loved it. I was sure it wasn't going to work though. But I put it on, set it to soft light, and fell in love. I'm not sure when the last time was (if ever) I had a piece come together so easily.

The funny thing is, even though I'm really happy with how it turned out and I think it's a very well done piece, it's not very popular  It always seems to work that way lol. I'll finish something and not be happy with it, or at least be unsure of how I feel about it, but it'll get tons of favs. Then I'll post something I feel really good about, and it hardly gets noticed. Why do you suppose that is?

Amazing. I really feel sorry for the girl. I love the way that you placed them going down a long hallway of sorts...The girl leaning against the wall is just sad! I love this picture

You really used that sign this week for the weekly challenge  I honestly think this one is my favorite of all of them because of it's simplicity and natural look of a true photo. Good job Allison :)

LOL I know huh. When I first saw the image I was like, how the heck can I use that? But then I just started sticking it in various backgrounds and voila, a lovely picture appeared!

I am impressed that each piece of this puzzle is adjusted so that the light and shadows are natural and consistent.

Thanks. It's just one of those things that almost fell into place, and I hardly had to do anything other than visualize the finished piece.

Yeah... It may seem that way but I see where images have been flipped and the direction of light is very close. Not every one takes those things into consideration. Still a great job.

Have you sold anything since last we talked?

Lighting and shadows have always been my bane since I started photoshopping. I think I've gotten better with practice, but I still feel completely inadequate at times, trying to figure out why a piece isn't fitting in right.

Sold anything? What kind of anything? And when was the last time we talked? Lol

I wondered if you had sold anymore of your art...silly girl.
allison712's avatar
Oh, right. I knew that :paranoid:

No, I have stuff available as prints, but I haven't done anything for commission or anything. I did kind of do an art trade with a friend, but that's about it. Did you want to buy something ;P

Oh sure... I'd like a cheese burger and fries :)

Sorry, no burgers and fries.
