New Year's Revolution
Calendar needs a change
So let's start afresh
Turn over a new page
Start a new chapter
Of history
For peace
For justice
For liberty
Cos the migrant
The squatter
The bread thief ain't guilerty
Let's make a new year's revolution
Help Quasi Modo smash his bell
Cos today we found a solution
Resolution to rebel
No
No martyr
Nailed to a tree
Cos our time
Our epoch
Our era will be free
Let's make a new year's revolution
Help Quasi Modo smash his bell
Cos today we found a solution
Resolution to rebel

Anarres, False Anarchia
Left their home forever
A dozen stellar arrows
They were naive
Dreamed of utopia
Anarchia endowed
They were naive
Anarres, false anarchia
Free from written law
Where dogma kills more
Freedom, in real tyrannia
Generation by generation
Ever more complacent
They are naive
Forgotten to be free
Now taught not to think
They are naive
Anarres, false anarchia
Free from written law
Where dogma kills more
Freedom, in real tyrannia
None more hopelessly enslaved
Than they who think they are free
They are naive
Walking the path that is paved
Between the walls of UV
Anarres, false anarchia
Free from written law
Where dogma kills more
Freedom, in real tyrannia

The Revolution
The revolution will not be televised, it will not be sanitized, desensitized. No, this revolution will be live, living, breathing, everything worth fighting for. The revolution - will be - poeticized.
This revolution will not be caught on cameras, will not be polarized by the media. It dies standing on its bare feet before it is forced to fall on knees not willing to bend. The revolution is much more likely to be found on the run. It is subject to no one.
Our masterless words are the burning bush of this big monopoly, big money society. They are setting fire to the cities and moving the mass millions of the consumer culture.
[This revolution is not an –ist]
And while capitalism owns the owners, we will be truly human – freedom will dance on the tips of our tongues and spill out onto the streets, pounding the pavement to the beat of our feet, as we march proudly, hand in hand to the edge of the abyss. Joan will sing as Emma dances.
Let us trade bondage for vagabondage, trade l

I am haunted in this holiday season by the opening lines of Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities, his novel about a society 250 years ago coming apart in its seemingly irreconcilable divisions. Could it be these lines define where we have come to find ourselves today?
“It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times,
in the age of wisdom,
it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light,
it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope,
it wa

Nicolas Jiménez is transgender?  Really?
During roll call of the first period of my first class of the first day of the new school year, this bombshell was dropped.  The rest of the class continues with me staring in... well, in her direction, I suppose.  I just find myself watching helplessly from the back corner of the room while the other students tease and berate her.  I feel bad, but I'm still kind of taking this all in.
The last time we spoke - if you'd even call it that - was in gym class one day last year.  An athlete, I am not.  He tried to pass a ball to me, and there was just no chance of me catching it.  I missed by a long shot as expected, and he relayed some choice words to me.
It wasn't even a big deal or anything though.  I wasn't mad at the time.  In fact, until now I pretty much forgot about that whole thing completely.

Your weekly Jocelyn update
So, I think I'm basically back to normal.  I'm walking pretty much like I used to again.  The list of "things I can't quite do yet" has been shrinking quickly over the past week.  It's to the point where if there IS still something I can't do, I'm probably not going to miss it.  The incision appears to finally be almost completely closed.  And I'm even back on my hormones again (doing wonders for my mood).  I'm still taking some antibiotics in regards to my infection a little while back, and I have at least three more doctor visits coming up, but everything is finally feeling like it used to again.
So, if I'm feeling better, what's the Rain situation?  As long as my appointments go well, I think there's a very good chance I'll get to resume posting in December.  As I've said before, I hesitate to start up sooner just for the worst-case scenario.  Heaven forbid, I start up for a week and get bad news and have to stop again.  I'd r

“Before the Magic - Max’s Story”
by Jocelyn Samara D.
Last year, my mom sent me to St. Celeste Middle School, a well known all girl private school.  It’s a pretty upscale place.  If you actually have the money and reputation (and are a “girl,” presumably), you probably couldn’t do much better.  I suppose it’s known for shaping their students into dignified young ladies befitting of their rich, prissy status.  At least, that’s the rumor that brought me there.  By extension, that made it my personal hell.
“Mirabelle Penelope Forcier!”  My mom would say.  “I’m not going to allow you to embarrass this family again, so you’re going and that’s final!”
It pisses me off though.  “Embarrass this family?”  What?  Because I cut my own hair so it never gets too long?  Because I’d rather wear a t-shirt and j

“Before the Magic - Carmen’s Story”
by Jocelyn Samara D.
I awake from a strange dream.  I can’t seem to remember what happened, but I think it involved a rabbit at one point.  With big, glowing butterfly wings!  A “bunnerfly” if you will.  That’s happening a lot lately, actually.  I haven’t been keeping track, but I’m pretty sure I’ve woken up with the same vague “I think there was a winged bunny” feeling for the last couple weeks.  Not really sure what that’s supposed to mean.
But whatever.  Who cares?  It’s just a dream, and I’ve got a big day ahead of me.  I’m basically starting a brand new life at school today.
I should say that I’ve always hated school.  I mean, I’ve got no problem with doing the work or anything.  My problem is more about the other people.  And I mean everyone.
