This will be a tutorial on the method of artist Jakub Rozalski aka MrWerewolf.
I´ve published a few of the images he´s used in his pieces but I wanted to see if it´s actually possible to duplicate his method and style to create a digital paint.
I am no artist and this will be a fast and rough experiment.

Step 1: Gathering the elements. Most of MrWerewolfs images are split up into 3 elements.
I did a quick search online and found these on the internet.

A background: in this case a wheat field.
A Giant robot: I found one that I will change.
Humans: Usually small figures to help show the scale of the robots. I found people working in the field which will work nicely with the background.

The composition and angle is almost always the same.

Now lets get started.

Step 2:

Background fix. Take the background image and paint on top of it. The goal is
to make it look painted. Feel free to freestyle and ad small elements of your own.

Step 3:

Giant robot. The same process “pain´t on top” technique applies to the robot. I´ve cut and pasted mine to
change it from the original (which is borrowed from the internets). I´ve also added additional markings and details. Find a nice place to set it down. Usually somewhere in the back which means you don´t have to show any details.

Step 4:
Time for the humans. Work the humans into the composition and give them the same painted look by painting on top of the photo.

Step 5:
Ad light effects and additional details to make the composition come together.

Final note:
The whole image took less than 2 hours start to finish along with the image search. I´m amazed how fast and easy this was.
It´s not as detailed and thought out as MrWerewolf paints but this was a simple experiment. There is room here for improvement. I´ve used the basic photoshop brushes and I think results would be even better if you get your hand on a cool set offered by many artist on Deviant art. I think It´s a way to work if you want cool result fast and have limited artistic skills. The downside is that without any skill your compositions will always look the same and you will be limited by whatever reference you can dig up. Also it´s easy to spot that it´s a paint over if not done properly. With that said it doesn´t mean that anybody can do it and you still need to be decent at drawing and understand some basic art principles.

Hope you guys liked this tutorial and it helps you in your creative process.

Hm. Your lighting on the robot is not correct tho. But not bad.
