Featured as the back cover in Image Comics' ELEPHANTMEN #36. [link]

The title, "Unicorn", was derived from the initial mistake from European explorers that rhinocerii were actually unicorns. I kept this in mind as I designed Sahara's headdress and the overall feel of the unicorn-and-maiden legend...

The movement in her hair and garment makes the image seem fable-like and I like her far-away expression. The monochromatic purples and blues scheme is calming for the eye and makes for a great composition overall.

This is just stunning. The texture in picture really create a very dream-like atmosphere. Also, wonderful job on the rhino. I know that's something I would have had difficulty with. :XD:

Experienced AUTHOR seeking dedicated ARTIST

Please take a few minutes to read my proposal; I am sure it will be interesting both from a financial and artistic aspect.

I’m looking for an artist who is willing to try and bring a project to life; one that I have been working on for some time now. If something good comes out of our cooperation, we will split the profits 70-30, with the artist getting the bigger piece of the pie. There is also a competition at my university which yearly grants a cash prize to the best artwork of the semester. This can be anything from a movie to a comic book, and the prize is always around 3,000 Euros (3,300 USD). If we were to win at this competition, I offer all the money to the artist. All I want is to see my idea come to life.

About me: -I am a Ph.D. student of political science, and as such I have written a lot of academic work. But writing fiction has always been more than a hobby to me. I have taken classes (at my university) on how to write a successful comic-book script, in order to turn my developed story into comic-book form.

About the project: -The project is serious and aimed towards a mature audience. The plan is to develop a successful comic-book series. It would revolve around the main character’s regression to his past lives. I will give you more details once we get into the discussion, but for now, here is a rough outline of the overall idea (which takes the juice out of it, though.)
-The main character will have to face the horrors of his past lives by stepping into a sort of a past-life regression machine. He will do this as a part of deal he made with a mysterious older businessman who calls himself ‘the alchemist’. The deal was for the main character to go through this process of past life regression in order for ‘the alchemist’ (a rich, powerful and mysterious man)to clear his name of a serious crime that was attributed to him, but which he did not do. It is not clear to the main character why he is being asked to go through the process of past-life regression, but it is obvious that the archeologist is very interested in the main character’s past lives. After experiencing the horrors he has done to other people in the past, as well as the horrors that have been done to him, the main character starts to question the meaning of existence, and starts to question his morality. Was it him who had done all those horrible things in his past lives? Does it make him an evil person? What is the meaning of this life if he will simply come back again?

What is expected of the artist: -The artist is expected to draw relatively well. I am ready to work on the story with the artist and more than willing to hear his ideas regarding how the panels should be set up. The artist will have a lot of freedom to be creative, as I will not have strict guidelines on how the drawings in the panels should look. You’re the expert, make it look good by using your own style.
-However, there is one small request that I have. I would like the comic to have a silverfish gray tone, with red being the only other color. Red will be used to express emotion, color blood (of which there will be plenty) and achieve other similar artistic goals. (However, I am even willing to discuss this requirement.)

Contact: If you are interested in discussing the project to further detail, or if you want to start working with me right away, please write to me at . I check my email at least once in every 3 days.

Is it okay with you if I use this as a cover for the next issue of my space dragon magazine series? I love how this looks and I rarely see art like this with African women (and Africans play a big role in the magazine).

Thanks so much for asking. :) Sure thing! Can you please be sure to credit me and my website for the cover? "Alice Meichi Li -" would be just dandy.

And can you let me know when the magazine comes out? I'd love to see how it looks!
