At my core I am mixed media portrait photographer who relishes in befouling an image. Working with portraits and textures I find myself creating gender twisted, macabre spiced, occultish, prints. These images often are manipulated unabashedly in sometimes traumatic ways. Unafraid to alter my photographs, much of my work is self reflective of a personal experience of living as a schizoaffective, non-binary, transgender woman. Through obsessive self-dissection and examination I employ the practice of manipulation and alteration as an anchor to explore topics of gender, self thought, and the emotional day to day. Often with wholly disregard for the "purity" of a photograph I produce an encounter that reflects a recognition of an increasingly mitigated physical experience of the world as I see it.
I see the figure as canvas for the authentic self. Using portraiture, a queer lens, and a reckless way of making I want to capture an intangible something that is beyond skin deep. In the coming years I have hopes to include others more in my library of portraits.
