There is the BA (bachelor of arts) and then the BFA (bachelor of fine arts). The BFA is more credit intensive and is suggested as a major whereas the BA is suggested for those who want to major in something else but would like a minor in the visual arts. Many State university of New York schools have BFA/BA programs (Fredonia, Oswego, Oneonta, Plattsburgh, New Paltz and more) and many specialized private school have BFA/BA. Make sure to look at faculty and student work to see if the school is doing what you want! A good foundation is key and it's also a good idea to take art history courses, you need to know what history is so you can learn from it!
