while i can't deny that shooting water at a lovely model and capturing the patterns around her with a high speed shutter speed can look cool, i have to admit it doesn't do anything for me. i'm sure there is a lot more work going on behind the shot than how i overly simplified it, but to me i can't really connect with what the photographer is trying to show how they envisioned this.
one thing that really seems to take a lot of emotion out of the shot is the solid black background. i think if there were some colour (swirl, tie dye,.. something not just one solid colour) it would bring this and the other shots of this style more to life.
as for the lighting, it seems to be aimed at her left arm while her face with the bold makeup and hair styling can't easily be made out. so a little more light (more output or add another stand) and angled higher up or a larger light defused more evenly across her would work wonders here.
finally, i don't know if the water was cold, but the model looks a little upset in her facial expression.
i hope this critique gives you future ideas and i wish you the best. i look forward to your future uploads.
