I hate the fact that members of our government feel the need to control what we read, write, draw, and post. It disgusts me! Obviously, whoever drafted SOPA has had no thought as to the impacts of the act in the art community. My fellow Deviants....let's teach em not to fuck with us...

Is it just me, or does it feel like all the politicians forgot a very important amendment when they were writing this act?

Yeah. I just recently determined that my congressman, presently, can do jack-diddly about SOPA, because he's not part of the judiciary committee (which was actually a pleasant realization, since it reminded me just how long this thing has to go before it's actually passed into law. GOD BLESS A SYSTEM BASED ON CHECKS AND BALANCES). If it gets past this part of the process, then I'll need to contact him about it, but...
PIPA, on the other hand, has already made it through its judiciary committee, and as such it's EVERY SENATOR'S concern now.
As such, as soon as I drag myself off this computer and onto the computer connected to a printer I know works (as a printer. I've got a lovely scanner in here, but... somehow I don't think my senator is interested in being e-mailed a pretty picture about this :-p), I'm gonna write my senator a letter (I already contacted her online about it, though <3.)

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one writing letters to my senators...i wrote both of mine the other day. online, but i might steal your idea and go snail mail as well....

I would like to personally thank people like you and Divides who are taking action in America, I hope people will do the same here in Australia when our goverment jumps on the band wagon again.

So, I know there's a "Veto SOPA" petition (even though SOPA hasn't technically passed congress yet)... is there a similar petition for PIPA?
I'd kinda hate for us to defeat SOPA only to have most of the same issues created by its (already further along) senate based brother XD.
