Description

Mathieu Lelay , working, in front of this otherworldly landscape. The stronghold/mountains smoke as volcanoes

I enjoyed this scene a lot for its atmosphere.

This is mount Fitz Roy at lago de Los Tres. South Argentina .

I haven't seen a landscape photo as good as this one in a long, long time.

The sharpness of the image alone is enough to give one pause, but that's not even half of it.

Firstly, you have to ask yourself, where was this taken, who are these people lucky enough to go there and take photos? That's excellent visual narrative to begin with.

Secondly, the composition and lighting are truly breathtaking, and really just keep one's eyes fixed on the image, and again, the lone pure black silhouette of the photographer in the foreground really just piles up the narrative, and adds layers of artistry. Is this a photo? or the story of someone taking one? These are the types of questions that arise-and this is what makes the image so great.

The semi-warm colour of the clouds and sunset, paired with the cool tones of the icy mountain caps just gives a great palette contrast which just helps the light and dark tonal values and their composition alongs quite well.

I must congratulate you, because this is just purely breathtaking.
