I'm not sure if I've mentioned it here, but I have an Etsy store for prints and originals; www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Alexandra…

I am fantastically bad at keeping my website updated. I'm a bit better at updating the Etsy store, but really the best place for updates is my Facebook page; www.facebook.com/AlexandraDawe…

If you're looking for a print and can't find it then it is likely available, I just haven't added it yet :) Please do drop me a message if there's something you'd like.

Thank you!

Entry is free, and there is a café on site with tea and freshly baked cakes!

We open 10am- 7pm on Saturday 11th October, and 10am-4pm on Sunday 12th October.

Wow, thank you for the DD and for all of the lovely comments! It took me a while to work out why I had so many messages, I thought there'd been one of those wonderful "internal server errors" I get sometimes with DA!

Feeling very pleased, thank you!

Also, thank you for all of the LLama badges. I don't really know what those are, but thank you anyway!

I'm hopefully keeping up with thanking you all for the lovely comments. There were SO MANY favs and watches that I'd spend a long time replying, instead of painting. And I feel I must press on with a new painting now that I have so many new watchers! So this is a blanket THANK YOU for all the messages, watches, favs, adds, group gallery requests, everything.

In case I've not said it yet... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!

Dartmouth

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 29, 2010, 1:26 PM
We're just back from a lovely weekend in Dartmouth at the Fantasy Art Event. Two days of art, crafts, workshops and Christmas shopping! Sadly the 3 flakes of snow we had caused the local media to hysterically scream "Severe Weather Warning, do not travel!!!" which left us with rather fewer customers than we had hoped. But it was a great weekend for making friends and meeting new people, and swapsies!

All my new friends demanded that I join the Facebook movement so I've been assimilated now :)

Now I'm looking forward to December being all about Jacob's first Christmas and our first Christmas and New Year in our new house. Then next year I'm hoping to get productive again, this year was waaaay to busy for paintings, so 2011 is all about painting and getting out there to loads of events and fayres :D

Moving

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 10, 2010, 6:39 AM
Well we're finally doing it, we're moving to Devon! :D It's only taken us 7 years! If all goes well over the next few weeks we should be moving into our new house in August. I've started packing already, it seems like an impossible mountain of stuff. Every room has hundreds of books covering the walls, it makes for very heavy boxes!

Just to be extra helpful Megan has decided to work out what the potty is for this week, so whether I'm painting, feeding the baby, packing boxes or cooking dinner everything has to be dropped when I hear the cry "MUMMY, A WEE IS COMING!". Only 2 accidents so far :) She's doing really well, bless her!

Right, i'd best stop skiving and pack some more :(

Baby Jacob

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 18, 2010, 3:20 AM
Well I'm not getting much chance to get online at the moment, since the safe arrival of our lovely new baby boy, Jacob. Between our 19 month old daughter and a 10 day old baby my deviation list and new messages are getting out of control!

He's a hungry boy, and growing fast! Our daughter Megan loves him and we're all adjusting to having a newborn in the house again. I think it'll be quite some time before I manage to paint anything though! He's absolutely lovely, so there's a high chance my next painting might involve cute little pixie children :D

Witch Wanted

If I hadn't quit my job as a publisher to be a full-time mum (and occasional artist) then I'd be applying for this job; news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8…

When the person who gets the job this time retires, I'll be ready!

I will, hopefully, be submitting some artwork one of these days! A few paintings on the go at the moment, sporadically working on them when I have time!

Exhibition- the Truth about Fairies

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 2, 2009, 1:00 PM
I've just heard about a great exhibition running from the 22nd June- 13th September in Southampton City Art Gallery.

This is from their website; This exhibition will take a thematic approach, looking at the ways in which artists have responded to Shakespeare’s faeries (A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Tempest); Spencer’s Faire Queen; Christina Rossetti’s Goblin Market and J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan. The Flower Fairies of Cicely Mary Barker and Margaret Tarrant form a theme in their own right. There will be bad faeries (goblins), as well as good faeries and even fake fairies (the Cottingley Fairies and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). This exhibition hopes to chart a living tradition, taking as its starting point the ‘golden age’ of illustration, from the 1860s to the 1930s, culminating with the revival of fairy art in the 1970s, which will bring the story up to the present day. Southampton City Art Gallery hopes to draw on public (V&A, Heath Robinson Trust and Cecil Higgins Art Gallery) and private collections to create an exhibition that will appeal to a wide audience. Wendy Froud’s work is largely sculptural, adding a new dynamic to the show; it is also hoped to include costumes.

And the site is; www.southampton.gov.uk/leisure…

I think I might be taking the train down to Southampton every day for the next few months!
