Looks like my previous painting of the foxlike faerie attracted some unexpected customers. I had no idea faeries like that actually existed, so imagine my surprise when this tiny girl comes knocking to my window and asking for a portrait. She left me some bizarre contact information pointing to a cave on the Alps not too far from the springs of the Po river, but apparently she also has a cell phone and an email address. How do they even get internet access in a cave?... well, maybe it's better not to ask too many questions. I'm very happy I got to use so much blue-violet hues!

Lovely creature.
A pixen? (pixy vixen)

It's interesting that she has brightly coloured wings, since in real butterflies colourful wings are usually a male trait, while females tend to be far less conspicuous.

And I wonder what her life cycle would be... Are they born like that, or do they start out as caterpillars and later undergo metamorphosis?

That could be a good name for the species. :-) Vixen fairies seem to be a fairly old invention by the way, I have found some even in furry art from the early 1990s. I guess the nature of foxes makes them the ideal choice for faeries. As for their life cycle I haven't asked her, silly me. I can only imagine how cute the caterpillar of such a creature could be (or maybe it's the opposite and it is utterly ugly). I'll need to draw that if I can get the information and turns out they are actually born as caterpillars.

Beautiful work!  Love the use of blues and purples, and that little splash of contrasting yellow in the wings works really well.  The background details also work really well--especially the lost little Lego piece.

Actually from what I've understood of fairies, is that they are actually so technologically advanced that not only is it eco-friendly but CDs are actually in museums. They got magic AND Ray guns. Cell phone signal/web connection in a cave? Pssft try having both that wile living several hundred feet under ground. ( Look up the Artemis Fowl series sometime good read).
