Box TV goes live in Berlin with its noon fight news segment. An anchorwoman is on duty.Alexandra
: "Hello and welcome to Box TV News at 12:00. I'm Alexandra Seidel."
She goes through the latest boxing headlines, reports and results before heading to the soft news and gossip.Alexandra
: "Alesia Schumann won the German championship in the Super Lightweight division to become a top 5 contender months ago. However, she turned down a title shot with reigning world champion Nadia Monteil. Who should she fight next? We held a flash poll on our Web site to find out what fight fans had to say."
The anchor moves on to the touch screen.Alexandra
: "We have a clear winner. 53% of our flash poll participants picked Lilim "Azure Valkyrie" Alterion from the United States! The newly crowned American Lightweight champion is the fan favourite. We have a nice surprise for you, dear viewers. Schumann is on a visit to Berlin and she agreed to join us in the studio to discuss the results."
The presenter goes back to the desk.Alexandra
: "Welcome to Box TV, Alesia."Alesia
: "Thank you for having me."Alexandra
: "Lilim Alterion has 17 wins, 14 knockouts and 5 losses. The fans want you to fight her if it's possible. What say you?"
Alexandra: "You don't seem to take the idea seriously."
Alesia: "Lilim Alterion, the girl in blue? She's a hairweight... no, a smurfweight with a love affair for the canvas. I don't see why such a fight would be interesting. At all."
The TV host is surprised.
Alexandra: "Alesia... Alterion has never been knocked out. She defeated Fiona Fabre, a tough as nails fighter, to win her American title. She faced high-level opponents prior to that. The two of you in the ring sounds like a great idea."
Alesia: "Come on. Fiona hasn't faced an elite fighter. The boxers Lilim defeated are either untested or washed up."
Alexandra: "She knocked out your friend Virani MacVicar, who is an up and coming fighter."
Alesia: "Yes. Virani is an excellent boxer, but she is a few weight classes below Lilim. That's why it didn't go well. That's why we have categories in boxing. Lilim should fight people her size instead of thinking she's a superwoman after beating people who are smaller."
Alexandra: "Alterion is a Lightweight, only five pounds below you. This matchup doesn't look far-fetched due to a size difference. The two of you could meet either at Lightweight or Super Lightweight."
Alesia: "I'm sorry to break it here, but Lilim doesn't have what it takes to take on a top contender. She trembles ahead of her fights against lesser boxers. As soon as she would be within striking distance with me, she would start crying and have a complete meltdown. I don't have the heart to provide such a massive embarrassment to the boxing world. Instead, I prefer being gracious and signing up for the Smurf Preservation Society.
Alexandra: "You are very harsh towards Alterion. Doesn't it make sense to think that being the American champion makes her a credible opponent? She looked good in many of her fights."
Alesia: "Titles only mean something if you win them against quality opposition. Looking good when hitting the bag is easy. When the bag keeps sending you to the canvas, you have a problem."
Alexandra: "So, it's a no."
Alesia: "And a firm one at that. I'm sorry to be in such a shutdown mode, but I know a fight that shouldn't happen when I see one."
Alesia thinks: "Or is it? If she wants it, Lilim can always earn it."
Alexandra: "Thank you, Alesia, for coming to see us!"
Alesia: "Always a pleasure."
The TV host wraps up her broadcast with a last segment.
Ally shakes hands with Alexandra, the crew gets her microphone and she gets out of the studio. A few minutes later, she looks at her phone and finds a text from her coach Regina.
