It's a portrait! The illusion this gives is that this person actually spent time posing for the image. Like the representations of heroes in the XIX century (and saints before that), what it shows is the attributes, symbols that identify the power and station of the person portrayed for others to see. In this case, the super detailed sword and armor (That all Seeing Eye!), the fabrics, the land and castle (If one of the stones had inscriptions written, it would have been really fitting). Nice use of that imaginary, the background certainly helped to reinforce that “show of possessions” aspect of the genre, good job!
