Opal Eater Hair by Alemja Opal Eater Hair by Alemja
So I pretty much have to call the sculpt done, I couldn't quite implement all the changes due to time, but I am overall happy with the design. Here is a closeup of the hair, which I am quite proud of.

That looks amazing! How do you even approach a hairstyle like that one?

I started with some hair tubes, you can see them in some earlier screenshots. They were unwrapped in a grid pattern so I can easily work with them and also just use the models as-is later for textures. Then I made a copy of all of the hair tubes, slices the edge loops length-wise (super easy to do in Maya since they where unwrapped) Then in max I used push and noise modifiers to "fluff" them out and five them a little bit or randomness. It's pretty heavy polygon wise but since there is no texture or polygon limit I don't care too much so long as I can submit it in a marmoset viewer file under 20mb.

Sorry for the super late reply. Thanks a lot for the answer! It's quite a smart method, I can't believe they actualy work as hair cards
