Oh my word, I LOVE this! Drawing warriors has always been my favorite. I'll have a warrior drawing up soon-ish actually; just joined!

How much would you charge for work like this? How long would it take to complete?

Hey there! Completion time on this one is about a week, though not pure painting time of course, just also other obligations. Price is depends a lot on what you want. Should it be a print or the original, how big, how complicated the composition and stuff would be. If you are interested, feel free to send me a private message. :)

Great painting - I like how the colour of her hair matches the colour of the grass!

A very exciting and dramatic scene from the book!  You've really captured the intense action and fear well!

This is a beautiful piece! Eowyn is one of my favorite characters and this is one of my favorite scenes and you did a really good job putting it into paper :)

Thank you very very much! Eowyn is great, like her far more than boring Arwen :D

this is great! i like the element of billowing smoke, swept aside by the batting wings of the nazgul's steed. how did you do the blades of grass lighter than the ground behind them (it's something i've always notices and admired in john howe's work, and you seem to have the technique down)

Oh so happy you saw the smoke and could make the relation as to why it is there! I was a bit worried that that detail was to complicated.
The blades are different techniques. Those that are just merely brighter than the ground behind them are done my picking off color (painting the blade with just water onto the ground and then picking the color that that wet stroke losend from the paper off with a paper towel). The nearly golden blades are done scraping off the top layer of the paper with a knife.

Schöne dunkle Interpretation einer meiner Lieblingsstellen
Das Fellbeast gefällt mir am besten - vor allem die Position der Flügel und Klauen. Großes Kino :worship:

The sense of movement, use of colour and the composition of this are brilliant, they really pull your eye into the splash of red in the fell beast's mouth. I really like all the murky colours and subtle textures you have going on too. :)

Fantastic! I had been looking forward to see this finished ( having seen the sketches over at facebook). I love the dynamic of the composition and the sombre colours. Were the highlights done in something other than watercolour?

Thank you! :)
Yes the highlights aren't watercolors. The white ones are a white chalk crayon. Sometimes I draw with blue or yellow over that white to give it some color. The golden highlights are done with the knife scraping off the top layer of the paper.

Very nicely done. Slightly reminiscent of John Howe's take on the subject.
