Your skills are very impressive and this painting is gorgeous. I really like how you approached the level of detail here with just enough background leaves to add visual interest and round out the composition, while the large areas of pale, uncomplicated color sharpen the focus on the subject and keep the piece from looking too busy. It's a very pleasing visual balance.

Thank you Peach! Yes it was important to keep the focus on the flower and not the background. I intentionally muted the colors in the background and saturated the color on the flower.

This is stunning! My mom had one of these when I was a kid and the blooms were so gorgeous- I still have some print photos of it somewhere. You’ve captured this plant beautifully!
