Sorry I've been so absent lately. I've been hard at work on my novel between woodworking projects. I thought I'd share my latest item with you all. A good friend of mine commissioned a Harry Potter themed tea chest, and I'm quite proud with how it turned out.
The box is mostly African Mahogany, with maple dividers for the tea box slots. The lid has the Hogwarts crest stenciled on, based on LittleFallingStar's Hogwarts Crest
and used with permission. The clasp, hinges, and corner brackets are all made from brass, and the box is sealed with lacquer for protection. On the inside of the lid is a tarot and tea leaf reading "cheat sheet" for when Professor Trelawney's having one of her 'off days'. The collage is made from public domain images and has a number of subtle and not-so-subtle Harry Potter references.
I worked on this project off and on over three weeks, alongside other projects and my brother coming to visit. All in all, it took a little over five day's worth of work to make.
I'd love your feedback and any ideas for future projects. Most of the work I've been doing recently has been commissioned work, so if you're interested in owning something similar, send me a private message! I love doing themed projects, anything from steampunk to Star Wars.
