Thank you to everyone who participated in this challenge! We had a total of seven participants, and it was great to see the effort put into boosting our community. Here's the prizes in descending order:

MagicalJoey - 640 pts
heartdialect - 640 pts
saturdaystorytellers - 480 pts
IamNoHere - 130 pts
SilverInkblot - 95 pts
SlytherclawPadawan - 80 pts
WishingUnderThatStar - 55 pts

MagicalJoey and heartdialect completed every task; well done! They both receive the special combo prize of 3-month core and a $25 Amazon gift card.

AND... because saturdaystorytellers completed every task except greeting a new lit deviant, since she ran out of time to find one despite her best efforts, we've decided to award her the third combo prize as a show of good faith. That level of community spirit should be commended.

That's a wrap! Please join me in thanking JessaMar, Memnalar, and neurotype-on-discord for their invaluable help behind-the-scenes, as well as our prize donors listed further down. Y'all rock.

(Psst - we're still looking for a couple community-minded people to join the CRLit team. Contact us to apply :eyes:)

New year, fresh starts, resolutions – what better time to try some new things on DA?

The CRLit team has put together a challenge to boost community interaction and introduce aspects of the site you might not be familiar with. Yeah yeah, you've all resolved to write more this year, which probably means hunkering down alone with a good soundtrack and your poison of choice, but interacting with other writers is an important part of the job too. Besides, maybe it'll net you some attention? :eyes:

...okay, if that's not enough incentive, you can earn Points  too. Here's how it works:

We took the original list of 10 tasks and sorted them by difficulty. They're still the same, just in a different order! You can now earn points for each completed task. Harder tasks are worth more. Points available while supplies last, so get in quick!

Easy: 10 pts per task
Moderate: 25 pts per task
Hard: 50 pts per task

You can also earn bonus points by completing every task in a tier! :lovely:

All easy tasks: +50 pts
All moderate tasks: +100 pts
All hard tasks: +150 pts
C-C-C-COMBO KILL (all tasks in all tiers):  easy, moderate, hard bonus + 100 pts completion bonus

* LIMITED TIME COMBO BONUS: * the first three people to complete all challenges will each receive a 3-month core membership and a $25 Amazon gift card, courtesy of CRLiterature.

Fall leaf - F2U The challenge runs from Wed, Jan 17 to Wed, Feb 14 (Valentine's Day, 'cause we love y'all so much.) All tasks must be timestamped within that period.

3. Reply to 3 threads on the Literature Forum.

Replies must be at least 10 words.

4. Comment on a projecteducate literature article.

Find them here, or browse PE's journals. Any lit article is fine, regardless of when it was posted.

1. Create a showcase of other people's lit.

You can do this however you want, as long as it's publicly visible: a journal feature, a favourites collection, a custom widget on your profile, etc. Feature one person, several people, a theme, whatever you like.

2. Suggest a literature Daily Deviation.

You can do this by privately noting any lit CV: akrasiel, BeccaJS, or doughboycafe. We each have guidelines posted to help you out.

DD Suggestion Guidelines

Hi, I’m akrasiel, a Community Volunteer for literature. This means I have the honour of choosing Daily Deviations. But! The lit gallery is huge and I can’t possibly read everything. So I need you, the community, to send me awesome suggestions.
Glowing Sparkle Divider

What is a Daily Deviation?

"A Daily Deviation is a feature, selected by Community Volunteers or Staff Members, from right here on DeviantArt.
An assortment of submissions are chosen each day by this select group of staff and volunteer members who wish to showcase artwork they have found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large!"
It's not an award. It means a work gets displayed site-wide for one day. It means I was impressed and thought the rest of DeviantArt ought to see it.
Who selects Daily Deviations and how are they chosen?
You can submit literature to
DD Suggestion GuidelinesHello there
I realise it has taken me a month to get around to writing this. I have also blatantly plagiarised my previous guidelines from my first term as CV.
I am going to be honest. I am a busy lady and to maintain consistent DDs, I am relying on your suggestions. My target is 3 per week, but the caveat is that I need your help! If you're reading and faving lit, come tell me what you have found!
FAQ #61: What is a Daily Deviation?
FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?
What I am looking for in DDs
:bulletblue: I am comfortable featuring all forms of literature- be it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, scripts even fanfiction.
:bulletblue: I like writing with personality- nothing bland or cliché (If it mentions "broken wings" then please don't even bother lol).
:bulletblue: Please be notin
doughboycafe is a Literature CVI'm a lit cv.

Hi, I'm doughboycafe, and I'm a Community Volunteer for the Literature category.
What's that mean?

"In Community Relations, volunteers make up the Community Volunteer team. Community Volunteers help the community out by providing the community with a specific contact point in relation to galleries, chat and forums."
Read more: :faq85:
it means I'm here to help.

If you are part of the literature community, and you need help with the forums, chat system, navigating our groups/contests/events, or any other questions or concerns, please note me, or the other two Lit CV's, TheMaidenInBlack or brennennn.
Please, remember that I can only moderate things pertaining to Literature. I cannot moderate other galleries, chats or forums.
Also, DD's.

Part of my job is also setting Daily Deviations, or DD's, in the category of Literature.
Wait a moment, what's a DD?

3. Recommend a lit group to someone.

If you don't yet know of any groups, here's a reason to find some! Browse the
Groups page, or ask someone else for a recommendation first.

4. Start a new thread on the Literature Forum.

Thread must follow forum guidelines to be eligible.

50 Points per task

1. Participate in a lit community event.

Entering a contest, writing for a prompt, or taking part in a game are a few possibilities. If you're not sure if an event is valid, feel free to ask here. This challenge doesn't count though.

2. Critique a lit work using the critique function.

First you'll need to find a work with the critique function enabled. Protip: only core members can enable it, so that'll narrow down your search. These groups are good places to look:

Alternately, you can browse Critiques to see what others have critiqued recently, or Critiquables for new work with it enabled.

And that's the 10! Easy, right?

What's next?

Once you've done at least one task, comment here with a link to prove its completion. We recommend collecting your evidence in, so you can add stuff as you tick them off, and then link us to the file.

Most tasks can be done through comments; you can link to those by clicking on the comment date and copy-pasting the URL. Recommendations, greetings, etc. should be done publicly so we can verify them.

Fall leaf - F2U DD suggestions should be noted privately. Just say you've done it – no names, no nothing – and the CVs will verify.

Fall leaf - F2U Please specify which task each link is for.

Want to help?

You can help with this challenge in three ways:
  • Help verify entries throughout the event. akrasiel and JessaMar will be coordinating things, but we're open to a couple more volunteers.
  • Donate points for the pool. Any amount is welcome! Send them to akrasiel's donation widget; all contributions from now to Feb 14 will be earmarked for this event.
  • Spread the word about the challenge!

Fall leaf - F2U  ALSO:

CRLiterature is looking for 1 or 2 reliable, community-minded people to join our team and help with events, keep us up-to-date on lit happenings, and so on. Please note the group if you're interested. It's fun and not a massive time commitment :eager:

Thanks and good luck, all! Can't wait to see what you come up with. I'll be over here cheering you on like

I'm a bit late to this, but thank you for the challenge:D Though I was lazy and started working on it too late, it was fun. Is it going to take place the next year too?
