DD Suggestion Guidelines

Tue Aug 22, 2017, 5:21 PM

Hi, I’m akrasiel, a Community Volunteer for literature. This means I have the honour of choosing Daily Deviations. But! The lit gallery is huge and I can’t possibly read everything. So I need you, the community, to send me awesome suggestions.

What is a Daily Deviation?

"A Daily Deviation is a feature, selected by Community Volunteers or Staff Members, from right here on DeviantArt.

An assortment of submissions are chosen each day by this select group of staff and volunteer members who wish to showcase artwork they have found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large!"

It's not an award. It means a work gets displayed site-wide for one day. It means I was impressed and thought the rest of DeviantArt ought to see it.

Who selects Daily Deviations and how are they chosen?

You can submit literature to any current lit CV: akrasiel, BeccaJS, squanpie, or BlackBowfin. Please only suggest a work to one CV at a time.

How can I suggest a deviation to you?

It's simple! Send me a note with a thumbnail of the piece and
the title 'DD suggestion.' One or two lines why you like this piece is helpful, but not necessary.

General rules:

:bulletblack: Deviants can’t receive a DD if they have had one in the last 6 months.

:bulletblack: Deviants who have been inactive for longer than a month are ineligible.

:bulletblack: Deviations that are part of a current contest are ineligible. You can suggest them after the contest has closed and the winners have been announced.

:bulletblack: If a deviation uses a preview picture (an image above the text), it must be properly credited in the artist’s comments in order to be eligible.

:bulletblack: Self-suggestions are welcome. Promoting your work is a necessary skill for authors!

akrasiel’s preferences:

:bulletgreen: I welcome all genres and forms: prose, poetry, creative non-fiction, visual lit, etc.

:bulletgreen: I accept submissions in English and French.

:bulletgreen: Technical quality is critical. Brevity is a valuable skill. Submissions should have been spell-czeched.

:bulletgreen: Fanfiction is fine, but bear in mind that I’m part of very few fandoms, so chances are I won’t know the characters or setting. I judge writing on its merit as a standalone piece.

:bulletgreen: I’ll consider deviants with several past DDs, but ideally, I prefer to feature people who have never had one.

:bulletgreen: I appreciate writing that’s innovative and impactful. Show me something I haven’t seen before. Show me something that’ll leave me thinking after I step away from my computer.
