Shooting Stars
Star #11: Naruto and Yagura
Naruto really didn’t think his reaction had been that unreasonable! He woke up punching his alarm clock, so why was Tenten so surprised when he immediately threw a fist straight at her face when she shook him awake? And she even dodged it! Really, what was the problem here?!
“The problem is that I’m not your alarm clock! You can’t just go down to the appliance store and ask for a replacement Tenten!” Snapped his teammate, slinging her dropped bag over her shoulder with a more burning glare than Sasuke’s fireballs.
“And I don’t need to! You’re fast enough, it’s a good instinct for a shinobi, seems fine to me!”
“Until its one of our allies waking you up and we end up in the middle of an international crisis!” Naruto

Star #10: The Fourth Mizukage
Sasuke wished he could say he didn’t know how he had ended up in this mess. But he knew, oh did he know! Hunched in a cave, drenched to the bone, next to the exiled Mizukage and his team, with a somehow laughing Tenten and sleeping Naruto! This was originally a freaking C-rank! But nooooo, of course it just couldn’t be some wild summons running around tearing apart a village with a powerful assassin behind it, because that would be too easy! The Uchiha groaned, rubbing his forehead and wiping futilely at the droplets clinging to his signature hairstyle.
When they had gone to Kyosetsu’s village, transforming a barrel they had found on the outskirts into a boar’s head, no one was surprised when Miyaboshi saw straight through the ruse. Still, in those few seconds when Miyaboshi mocked them for underestimating a jounin, Rin-sensei had appeared from behind and nearly knocked her out. Apparently, M

Yukine's Showdown
Chapter 4: Yukine and Yato
Yato woke up slowly, blue eyes still glazed with sleep as he forced them open with a yawn. He had slept over at the hospital, refusing to leave Yukine’s side in case the kid started freaking out again. He had been offered a bed there which he had been intending to take, but as he pushed himself up off the edge of his shinki’s cot, he guessed he had fallen asleep there. He yawned again, rubbing at his eyes tiredly.
“Morning, Mr. Sweaty Jersey God.” Yato’s breath froze in his throat, his mind nearly short-circuiting. And, very, very slowly, he raised his shaking irises to stare at Yukine’s smirk. He was sitting up, one hand still clutched in Yato’s, and hawthorn eyes clear and bright. His hair was thrown about in a terrible bedhead, and he was still paler than Yato was entirely comfortable with, but as his smirk morphed into a genui

Chapter 3: Reassurance
Yukine teetered as he left the ruins, steadying himself on the pillar on his way out. He was limping, his clothes were shredded, and he was bleeding, well, everywhere. There was no way he was getting out of this without explaining himself to—
“Yukine!” The blonde hafuri turned his head slightly, one hand gripping his side and hair matted with blood. Yato was running towards him, a green helmet on his head….and Erina was racing up behind him, her motorcycle bumping alongside her….why were they so blurry?....he guessed it didn’t matter….ah, Yato was saying something, but he couldn’t quite make it out….and he was just so tired……….
“Yukine!” Cried Yato as he made it to the top of the hill, slowing to a stop in front of his shinki and gasping out in between

Chapter 2: Boundaries
“You’re right on time, Yukine-kun,” crooned Nora as she stood from a stone bench within what was once the throne room. Now all that was left of the grandeur was a half-blasted wall to his right, a pile of stone behind his opponent, a pillar behind him, and the aforementioned bench. Basically, there was little left to destroy.
“Could hardly wait,” he replied shortly. “Any rules I should know about, or just a good old all-out boundary lines war?” Nora giggled in response, but she did that at everything, so Yukine just waited until she was done.
“You come at me with intent to kill, and I do the same for you. Those are the only rules.” Because of course. Yukine could already sense the ayakashi circling closer behind him.
           “Then bring it!

Warning! Minor spoilers for Noragami manga! Proceed with discretion!
Chapter 1: An Invitation
Yukine finished hanging up the laundry with a smile, straightening out the creases and letting out a cheerful sigh. He had completed his chores for the day, and could finally get to that assignment Hiyori had given him. Sure, he would have to go to the library to check out the book she had been talking about, but he couldn’t pretend to regret getting out of the house. Yato hadn’t had any calls all day, and he was annoyingly antsy. Honestly, Yukine would have probably finished his chores about two hours ago if Yato hadn’t decided to try and cook, leading to a sinkful of half-blackened dishes and a kitchen dripping with…….Yukine shuddered at the memory. A mixture of flour and eggs was not supposed to be purple! And the melting ham….

Yukine and Fevers Don't Mix
Yukine turned over in the well-lit room, keeping his back to Yato as he dissolved into a fit of coughing. He stuffed his face into the pillow to muffle the sound and felt the heavy fabric of the blanket on top of him acutely. Peeking over his shoulder, Yukine let out a sigh of deep relief when he saw that Yato hadn’t stirred, even though the heavy breath scratched at his throat. One minute, he was practically on fire, but as soon as he kicked the covers off, he froze straight to solid ice. It was infuriating! Shivering restlessly, Yukine grabbed the glass of water nearby his bed and gulped it down, soothing his sore throat and nearly deep-freezing his insides.
With a quiet groan, Yukine stood from his futon and, as silently as he could, dragged it far from Yato. The last thing he wanted to do was force Kofuku and Daikoku to deal with a sick, whiny, sweaty jersey-clad god. That was absolutely the onl

Yukine's Secret
           “Yu~ki~ne~”
“Shut up!” Snapped the blonde regalia, turning crossly from his math notebook and glaring at Yato. The navy-haired god threw up his arms poutily and rolled around on the floor like a disgruntled worm.
“But it’s so booooooring! Why doesn’t anyone caaaaall?” He whined, rolling so fast he made Yukine nauseous. Then he ran into the table and curled in on himself with a cry of pain. Yukine sighed, turning back to his notebook and pressing his fingers to his forehead, wondering how his god could have so much energy. He was completely exhausted from all his borderline training and their usual patrols that day, and the assignment Hiyori had given him was making his head pound like a drum. Not to mention, he still had that other thing….

KilluGon Not Okay
“All right, we’re here already! Now, for crying out loud, put me down!” Practically screamed Killua as Gon unlocked the door to their hotel room.
“Noooooooo way! You got a direct shot of fire Nen to your feet! You can’t even stand!” Pouted Gon, looking over his shoulder at the grumpy white-haired boy.
“Yes I can! And you’ve stood through worse too!”
“No I haven’t! You never let me!” Replied Gon, opening the door and shifting Killua on his back to help him through the entrance. The taller boy groaned at the gesture and dropped his forehead to Gon’s shoulder, silently giving up. His spiky-haired friend was frustratingly stubborn when it came to stuff like this.
           Gon grinned, relieved his reckless

Yukine's Name
Warning!! Contains spoilers for Noragami manga! Do not read if you have only watched the anime!
Yukine kicked a pebble absentmindedly, waiting for Yato to come back. They had been on their way back from a pretty simple task, slaying a phantom hanging around Hiyori’s school, when Yato had noticed that his scarf was gone. Although Yukine had pointed out repeatedly that they could just ask Hiyori to look for it, Yato had shivered and whined and been so obnoxious that Yukine had finally given in. But he had adamantly refused to go back too, as Yato had already given him a throbbing headache. His conscious making him unable to just go home, so he had reluctantly stopped in a nearby park, the winter wind biting at his exposed ears and his nose starting to run.
“Oh, come on! It does not take this long to look in the one classroom we were in!” Complained

Rape Culture
Rape culture is real.
As the #MeToo movement progresses, women from all over the country risk everything to stand up and say those two simple words. I have never been assaulted, so I pondered what I could do to help. How could I show my support for these victims?
By saying my piece.
Rape culture is real. Because women are the ones who are taught how to avoid rape. I know that all women reading this are nodding along, because they already know it all. They have heard it all. Women are taught not to walk alone too late at night, to watch how men walk along the street for signs of danger. They are taught how to handle being chased down streets, how they must throw their purse through windows to set off alarms and how they must scream loudly and run towards crowded areas. Women are taught what to wear and when to wear it. They are the ones who are always asked to account for the actions of others, to structure their lives around it. Women are asked “what were you wearing?” and,

Responsible
I know her.
I know the heavy backpack, the busy hands, the focused eyes,
I know the bright computer, the completed worksheets, the slight smile when
She gets her tests back.
I see her.
Free period, books around her, the worksheet for next class ready to be done.
A charging cord plugged into her computer.
I tell her,
Never seen you charge your computer before.
She tells me,
Yeah, I forgot to charge it last night.
She wakes up at 5:30 to make lunch, coffee, and tea for her family.
She works through all her breaks to get all her assignments done.
She takes three honors classes, two of them sciences.
She has all her colleges planned out in lists of twenty.
She watches history videos in her free time.
She is Responsible.
I tell her,
That’s odd, have you ever done that before?
Nope, she tells me,
Smiling,
It was nice.

Worthy of All
I was young when I first heard the question: “When a tree falls in a forest and nobody’s around to hear it, does it make a sound?” The second-grader stared at the person who had asked the question, wondering silently if someone had to be stupid to ask a dumb question. I answered that of course it did, duh. Now, when I hear that phrase, my reaction is different. No longer a sure response, but a burning question silently perched in my heart. “When did we start judging our worth as dependent upon others?” This is followed by more questions, insistent and probing, cutting apart the expectations around me. Why must we be sure that our peers, our family, our friends acknowledge us? Why is something not true unless someone else says it? Why are we not good enough for ourselves? When these questions arise, sometimes I look down at my side and think about that second-grader, so amazed by the insanity of such a bizarre and obvious question. My fall may not be heard

Gender Effects
Whenever I talk about feminism, I like to talk about the effects that sexism has on women. Internal oppression, wage gap, rape culture, normalized dehumanization, all of these are topics that each deserve their own essay. However something I have witnessed time and time again yet do not often talk about is how sexism hurts men. I do not talk about this much because I feel that women need more immediate attention and I expect men to talk about how they are being affected. Then I realized they did not. I did not abruptly realize it when one of my male friends broke down or admitted that they liked some movie or wore a purple shirt. I realized after many years of watching my brother, one of the most amazing men I could dream of knowing, talk about what femininity meant to him. He talked about it as something impressive, something he aspired to reach in some fields, and something he respected women for. And I realized that he could not wear the clothes or colors he wanted to. He could not

LGBT discrimination memos
The LGBT community entered the American stage most prominently after the Stonewall Riots as they fought openly for the right to live, marry, and have a job. Although they achieved that long sought after goal, those victories are now being washed away from the slate of history. The Justice Department has issued two new memos, one declaring that firing transgender people due to their gender identity is legal and the other decreeing that sexual orientation is a fireable offense as well. Their reasons are that the sex discrimination bills do not cover such denominations, and that they have been misinterpreted for political reasons by the democrats.
There are two points in this to be addressed. One is that the statute does, in fact, cover the LGBT community, as was ruled by the Supreme Court. As Chad Readler put it, “"The essential element of sex discrimination under Title VII [of the 1964 Civil Rights Act] is that employees of one sex must be treated worse than similar situated emplo

Transgender Military
As of July 26th, 2017, the United States has stepped backwards towards discrimination again. For a mere 0.13% in budget spending, transgender citizens may no longer fight in the military. The reason? Because their procedures cost too much and transgender people lead to dysfunctionality in units. This is a blatant attack on the gender nonconforming community masked in economy, despite the fact that the military spends 10x as much on viagra as it would on gender correctional procedures. As to the claim that transgender people lead to rifts in units, so do white supremacists and homophobic and transphobic citizens, and they have no ban upon them. Instead the group of people so often targeted are once again banned from their basic rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, for those dreaming to serve their country on the battlefield are now banned from doing so. It is the country’s job to stand up and back these people so often turned on, ignored, and discriminated against. T

I have returned! I really wanted to focus on writing activist pieces, but the news was getting too depressing for me to comment on. So I realized that if I was going to write nothing or not write activist pieces for a bit, then I would take a break from those. I'm going back to my fan fiction roots a bit, and will be posting some one-shots and the like soon. Thanks for all the patience!
