The bottom of Mir’s oceans are filled with all sorts of monstrous, alien and bizarre creatures not seen anywhere else on the planet. One such creature is the Deeplight Starfish, a species of starfish which has evolved bioluminescent lures at the tips of its arms as well as a smaller system of bioluminescent dots along its body. They evolved their bioluminescence as a form of symbiotic survival with a species of crustacean called the Trench Crab, which uses the lures of the starfish to attract fish which it then attacks and kills. In return the crab keeps the starfish alive and protected from would be predators. They are often harvested by Abyssal Merrows for food.
