He had been the first one to challenge Quetzal on her ghost stories in the deep forests of Kyendi when their families had been vacationing in the region. “The forests of Kyendi are haunted. I’ve never seen a ghost but I know they’re out there. People say that the forest itself watches you when you travel deep enough. I mean, it just makes sense. It’s the oldest place in Eyre, afterall. Energy had a feeling to it. If you were familiar with a person and with their power, you could sense their activity from far away. It wasn’t an easy skill to hone however, and it only had a limited usefulness. Cordelia chose to hone that skill in her search for Niki. Up until now, it had been relatively unusable, but recently she had been feeling pulses of power that felt like the former king. She felt bad about breaking her promise to Lucid but this lead was too good to pass up. So she left the bar with a renewed sense of strength and a slight twinge of guilt as she headed to the far reaches of the Nightmare Realm. The pulses led her to a corner that was virtually uninhabited. The swamps of unclaimed nightmare kingdoms clung to her legs and dress as she waded through the mud. “Disgusting. Cordelia walked into the bar alone. It had hardly changed since the last time she had come, all those years ago. It was busy, it always was; but it was never overwhelming. She still felt like this was a space where she could let go. She waved to the bartender as she took a seat at an empty booth. He’d be over to talk to her. They were old friends after all, he couldn’t leave her alone after such a long time. She browsed the menu while she waited, listening to the chatter of other patrons around her. She didn’t know many of them so their gossip, while amusing, ultimately didn’t mean anything to her. Still… it was nice to hear the gossip of others. It reminded her of a simpler time. “Can I get you the usual?” The deep voice next to her started Cordelia out of her reminisces and brought her back to the present. “Oh? Cordelia didn’t let her guard down often. Which is why it was a complete surprise to her when the calm streets of her kingdom melted away from her on a walk throughout her kingdom. The forest that replaced the single color pavement was unfamiliar to her. It was alive and filled with noise. The noise rattled her, though she didn’t feel like the noise was trying to threaten her. She walked through the forest, trusting that she would eventually run the invading nightmare out of her kingdom. The trees thinned as she approached a clearing holding two doors. They towered above her, imposing and unyielding. Something deep within her told her that there would be no exit to this nightmare she was trapped in until she chose a door. The two doors were as different as the sea to the mountains. To her left was a white door, framed in classical arches and emitting a warm comforting aura. [C-001] Ryuu Can't Find the Train Ryuu wasn’t sure why he decided to accept the mysterious invitation to the coliseum. The whole event had been too crowded to properly enjoy the matches, with the cheering fans’ chants still ringing in his ears as he traveled back to Cordelia’s kingdom. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts he paused. Looking around, he couldn’t quite tell which way he was going. Having not paid too much attention as he stepped out of the arena, he was now thoroughly lost. The stony landscape looked the same as it stretched out in all directions. Turning around briefly, Ryuu contemplated turning back and trying to find the coliseum and ask for help finding the train back. As he turned, however, he collided right into another stygian. Rubbing their heads, the two stared at each other for a minute before the stranger pushed roughly past Ryuu, muttering under their breath. As they rushed off the image of them faded from Ryuu’s mind, leaving only a fuzzy memory
