Description
No, this isn't a real game. I made this as a joke, and there's a story that goes along with it if you are interested. If not, that's just fine, too. Thanks for looking.
With Lego Rock Band being announced sometime ago, my brother, our friends and I began joking around about what other games would be sah-weet if they were "Lego-fied." (Besides the actually Lego crosovers that exist, of course). We all love L4D, and I said Lego Left 4 Dead would be priceless. I even said I would do a cover mock-up.
Well, some months went by, and here I am, today, July 3rd, and I didn't really want to do any real work. Lego L4D came to mind. So I said, hey, why not.
I looked into Lego L4D on the internet, thinking someone else may have had the idea. Well, if they did, I haven't found it yet. So I Photoshopped this guy up.
BACKGROUND:
I recreated the background using textures mainly from BittBox. Had to recolor and blend a few layers with a gradient to get what I wanted. My original idea was to clone out the actual cover, but as I started, I soon deemed that it would be too time-consuming. So I just made one similar to it. I also used some grunge brushes from Brusheezy.com to add some extra detail.
LOGOS:
The logos were easy: I found a hi-res L4D cover, so I knocked the logo out of the BG. I lost some detail, so I added in some grungy detail and more blood spots. A-OK.
Found a hi-res Lego logo (say it 5 times fast!) and that was good to go (it was @ 1200 DPI to begin with = win!). Used another brush set to add a blood smear to the Lego logo, just for fun. Good to go.
I recreated the Valve and Traveler's tales (yes, the second "t" is lower) logos in Illustrator. TT makes all the Lego games, for those who are wondering. Easy enough.
HAND:
OMG, it is so hard to find a Lego hand on the internet. I finally found one on Flickr, cut it out with the pen tool, cloned some detail, extended the wrist area, burned some areas (oringally to knock down some highlights, but it added some awesome looking red spots to it = blood!). Threw a grunge texture over the hand on Overlay and knocked down the opacity a bit to get the zombie look.
Finished!
Took a couple hours; searching for the hand took the most time, ironically.
SOOOO....let me know what you think. If this goes over well, I'm thinking about doing more Lego-style covers. It's just silly fun! I have some ideas already...
On a side note, i did find a large number of people making custom Lego L4D figures...so now there's a cover for the mayhem! I don't know.

OK, just to get this out of the way:
NOT A REAL GAME. I MADE THIS FOR FUN, B/C LEGO + L4D = AWESOME. LEGO GAMES ARE MADE BY TRAVELER'S TALES. LEFT 4 DEAD IS OWNED BY VALVE. LEGO IS OWNED BY...LEGO. I DON'T CLAIM TO OWN ANYTHING OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED PROPERTIES. I'm just havin' some fun.
