G1 Animated Optimus Prime

So here are some Transformers G1 redesigns I cleaned up. Optimus and Grimlock were done last week, Megatron this week.

I like all of them, but the Prime and Megs are the most successful to me. Grim lost a bit of life from pencil to ink. But I still like it overall. Prime’s line weight is a bit different because I used pens instead of brush pens (my usual go-to). I wanted to see how it looked with a more consistent line.

It was fun designing these guys in an animated style. I tried to push and play with shapes and proportions, while picking out elements from the G1 designs that are staples of the characters and simplifying them at the same time.

Thanks for looking! I may do some more TFs in this style in the future, but it’ll probably be a bit since I’m devoting my time to some original personal projects at the moment. But I’ll probably color them in between projects, so keep an eye out!
