[Notes: The second Ponyta variant. Yeah, I've gone that Pegasus–Unicorn–Hippocampus route for Ponyta and Rapidash. Again, I've tried to not overdo the design since Ponyta and Rapidash are among the very few Pokémon who look cool just the way they are.]

According to the Alnean folklore, when the princes wished Jirachi for protecting the world and its people for eternity, they were transformed into the three subspecies of Ponyta. The eldest brother was given the domain of the skies, the middle one got the lands, and the youngest one got the rule of the seas. It is a common belief that there existed a fourth brother who was evil and was banished to the underworld, becoming the infamous Mare of Death, but due to lack of trustworthy evidences, the existence of such creature is considered plain myth.

It is said that the Seafarer Ponyta, being descended from the youngest prince, are more impulsive and quick-tempered than their other two variations. There are records of these Rapidash submerging islands with hurricanes. The locals, however, believe that to be a consequence of the humans making the Seafarers vengeful by harming the nature.

The Seafarer Ponyta not only are heavily tanked due to a heavy Physical attributes and a secondary Dragon type, they also have access to a large variety of Psychic moves, giving them an edge in competition. Just like their other counterparts, the Seafarers are speed-blessed, being able cross oceans in a very small time.
