Evelyn McHale leapt to her death from the observation deck of the Empire State Building on May 1, 1947.  This photo of her was taken by a photography student, just moments after her death.  It was later published in Life Magazine and she was labeled as the Most Beautiful Suicide.  Not much is known about Evelyn, but you can do a quick Google Search to find out what little is known.

Black and white colorized by me.

This photo has haunted me from the moment I first saw it years ago, and never left me.

I love your render of it. It's so sadly beautiful.

I know what you mean!  It's hauntingly beautiful and yet so sad all at once, it's so hard to describe.

Thank you though, glad you like my version.  I think this is one of only a few that I actually did with a "cold" filter.

I agree, it really is hard to describe. I do know if is definitely one of LIFE magazine's most famous photos throughout the years, and is even in an anthology book I got a while back. It haunted me ever since then.

You're welcome! I'm familiar with the 'cold' filter, but haven't used it on much. It works well for this though.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.  This and the soldier kissing the nurse, probably the most iconic LIFE photos that exist.

Cold, yeah, I never seem to use it much, but it definitely does work :)
