Woah. Last journal was at the begining of October? Holy. Crap. I've been away loooong time. But, not much has been happening in the world of moi. Wasabi Con passed in March. And with it, came soooo many issues. Short of having hotel staff and their hired security staff actually physically harming us, they were as horrid as possible. On multiple occassions I was yelled at for "loitering" in the lobby, and forcefully told to go back to our "designated" hallway. One, if was ridiculous for the hotel to book not one, not two, but THREE freaking events on the same weekend in the same damn hotel. Wasabi was only given one single hallway that was out of the way and not very large. It was horrible for walking through, with the lines having to stand on the side of the hall, further narrowing the space people had to walk. I'm rather pissed that the security staff that the hotel hired was as rude as they were. I can understand not liking cosplayers being loud, playing some of our crazy stupid games, the very very VERY few immature kids that run around unattended at the convention causing mass headaches for those of us that actually want to go and have fun at the con without being stupid and immature. I was not happy with the change of hotels that happened. We would have had more than enough room if we had still been at the Red Lion that we had been at the previous two years. Hopefully everything gets sorted out for 2014.
But, in lighter news, cosplays are still getting made and are getting more and more intricate and professional with every single one that is made. Currently working on two Vocaloid cosplays for NDK 2013, since I actually joined a group with my bestie and will be going two days now instead of just Sunday for the BLEACH photoshoot. Trunks from DBZ is also now in the construction phase, it'll be a chance to use several materials that I hardly ever get to use. Also planning on re-making the Twins this year, hopefully for NDK if all other cosplays get done in a timely fashion (which I seriously hope that they do this year, I don't wanna be scrambling this year to get everything done in hell week before the con). They've had a good 3 years of wear and tear on them now, and since they have actually become such an UNBELIEVABLE hit with the Colorado cosplay crowd, me and have decided that a new, completely redone and highly improved version of the Twins is in order. This time around though, they'll be made with MUCH higher quality fabrics that will hold up to more of our antics. Another hope for them is to get a 'picture perfect' formal version of them done. Hopefully using both brocades and silk to make them come to life. These versions won't be played around in nearly as much, mainly for meet-ups, photoshoots, and special events, I don't think that the formal versions will make it to conventions due to the wear and tear cons put on costumes. They may make one apperance at our local cons, but other than that, they are going to be only OUT OF STATE cons.
Yep, there, I said it. Out of state convention are on the agenda for 2014. These include, Yaoi Con, Sakura Con, Anime Expo, and A-Kon. I may not be able to make it to all of these, but those are definitely the goals for 2014. Sakura Con and A-Kon being at the top of that list. Sakura Con because I have heard nothing BUT good things about it, and I adore the scenery of the con that I've seen in all the pictures I find from Sakura Con. So, hopefully I make it out there next year, and if it's in the cards for me to head up there, I will most likely have a poll about which cosplays that I should bring. A-Kon however is a completely different story. I want to go down to that con because it's in my hometown backyard. Also, I'm looking forward to a con that has WARMTH. Don't get me wrong, Wasabi and NDK are in pretty mild months, but it can get pretty chilly in March and September. Hell, I've been snowed on at both conventions. Going to A-Kon also means I can spend some time with my family before and after the con. But more importantly, I can wear cosplays that don't have much to them, It's difficult wearing Kazemon up here due to the lack of coverage. It can get pretty frigid in that cosplay. And some of the cosplays I have lined up in my queue for 2014 are about equal coverage of Kazemon. So, if anyone has any tips for out of state convention tips, totally feel free to drop me a line.
