I recently had an experience like that while sitting on a park bench overlooking a pond. In fact I wasn't just one with what I saw, but everything I saw was One as well. When mathematicians say that a division by zero is "impossible" they mean that such an action has no meaning within the rules and axioms of math. Within that scope a consequence of declaring a division by zero a valid operation would be that all numbers are equal. That was precisely what my experience was about: that they are indeed all equal. But what made it truly transcendental was the realization that numbers can be both equal and not equal at the same time. That's what I was looking at in the late afternoon sunshine, gazing absently (yet very "presently" at the same time) at the pond and the trees, which were already turning into their autumn colors. I've had such experiences before on a mixture of drugs and alcohol, but this time I was completely sober, as I have been for the past 20 years or so. It did turn out later that at that very same time my grandmother, 100 km away, had decided to stop eating and drinking in preparation of her "departure". After she did pass away everything went back to "normal" again, to my regret I have to say. I do think she had something to do with it. I wouldn't rule out a degree of telepathy as being "real", if only because there's by far not enough scientific evidence to dismiss it (nor to confirm it of course). I would still not necessarily call it a religious experience, like some perhaps would. Just a very special and pleasant one:)

Ah, sounds like a special experience, really. I have had few of these as well. And one remembers these moments very clearly afterwords. I once had a great vision in the university café, I just suddenly understood the essence of time and saw it in my mind as a spiral, opening upwards. :) I still remember how excited I was, and everything was so clear and made sense.

- And sorry for my late reply, I must have swifted accindentally the oldest comments to be the first, and have been wondering why I don´t find comments any more...  Now corrected.

University does strange things with the minds of students:)

Time is something that is going on inside us. I've been thinking a lot about time and perception (what we call perception is time-based, and it's the only type of perception we can possibly imagine; there could be other types of perception though:)). The concept that so far has matched my conclusions most neatly is that of Tao, a "river" streaming deep inside our very brains/mind/being. The spiral is interesting, I hadn't thought of that, I thought a limited view on a circular motion would suffice, but the spiraling motion probably does more justice to the idea of an unfolding universe. Btw have you noticed that there are societies which worship the spiral, like ancient Crete and Greece, while others are obsessed with circles, like for example the ancient Celts and Germans ("Ourouboros-worshippers")? I wonder whether that means that the latter are primarily focused on conservation and preservation, while the former believe more in progress and development. But that's just a hunch, I'm no anthropologist. In any case, by seeing time that way you were looking at Existence itself, because time is the only thing that can be considered "real". Everything else, the spatial dimensions to begin with, are merely a reflection of the capabilities and restrictions of our own mental architecture. As such, any statement about "reality" is mostly a comment on our perception itself. I think that's a rather Hindu/Buddhist view, but it can easily be argued using nothing but dry logic as well. I think Karl Popper has said interesting things about human perception, but I'm not that much into philosophy, I like many of the the ideas and concepts but I hate the blah:)

Anyway: Cool!:D
