Hmm, is it something good? I'm still new here and as far as I understand the 'hot' tab and 'DD', this one I don't get... For me it's quite random tab with drawings not found in the other tabs, and if you scroll long enough, you will probably see your art there, but maybe I'm wrong... Sorry, for the question...

Undiscovered is basically a system for those who are doing well, but not "well enough" to get some attention. Usually the Hot/Popular pages are full of popular people, those who already have a ton of followers and almost every single thing they do gets a ton of comment or a ton of faves.

Under the undiscovered tab, everyone else has a chance to make  "front page" to be discovered by other users. I'm on the undiscovered tab and I rarely see my art there. Despite the number of watchers I have, I'm not that popular here because I don't draw anime, or fanart, or cute or anything insanely special style wise. XD I make comics, and that's original art, in an odd style, not even fully colored, so it isn't going to grab a lot of attention in short term. In the long term, yeah it'll pay off. It's taken me almost 9 years to get about 7400 watchers, so for me, making any of the front pages is a big deal. ouo

Thank you for taking time to explain that to me! I really appreciate it :)

Now I can honestly congratulate you! Heart

Oh gosh, 9 years it's a lot of time. I've seen people here having over hundreds of thousands watchers (as far as I remember, not sure though), yet not creating anime/manga stuff - they are just famous. But... I'm like you, not creating manga/anime, having my own style, and I'm not into colors - just black and white (but I will have to do some color if I want to grow). The difference is I'm fairly new here, and will I even have a chance to reach the number of watchers you have - I doubt...

Some people brought over fans from other sites, or have followers all over! So they can all congregate on one place. I'm not on a LOT of sites, but then again the number of followers doesn't mean much to me from an ego thing. I care more about having comic readers. lol

EVERYONE has a chance to make it on dA. I've seen people make it even faster than me. Some people find a skill that gains them popularity, for example Hontor makes little sculptures. they used to be unknown, but in the last 2 years or so they have sky rocketed into popularity. Some people take more time.

I know some great B/W artists, though most were famous before hand. So it isn't impossible, but the key is to love what you do and do what you love. Eventually people who like that too will show up and follow you and support you. Better that than to draw fanart or NSFW for attention, then have them all leave when you go back to your own original works.

I totally agree! I always do what I feel I want to. Making something in color was in my mind for a long time, some of my watchers only gave me the courage to try.

I also know some artists with less watchers than you, yet very successful, so it's not always a case to become successful thanks to popularity :) What makes me sometimes upset is the fact that some people here with very, very low quality works have more watchers than many great artists. Well, I can't change it, but it's quite depressing sometimes...

:)

Yeah, the main reason is friends from all kinds of websites, not actual fans of their work, but fans of THEM as people. ouo

you can always try, but if it doesn't feel natural, don't press it.
