Agreeing with *Baudome. Research your options, talk to others about their experiences, learn as much as possible. Although your end goal may be a gut "desire," I have found that logic and knowledge will show you the best paths to get there.
Very true! It's always good to have friends and family that are there to support you when you need it (and, of course, to be ready to reciprocate). You should always have a plan B... and sometimes a C and D!
I'd say a mix and it depends on the choices you have to make. Sometimes you have to have the guts to make a decision by yourself, and other times you have to pay attention and take a good advice which may help you a lot. But you have to keep in mind that your life is your life, nobody knows better than you how you should live it.
Well, if you want you can ask me, since I'm an expert in making awful choices that may potentially destroy your life...I tried to negate my dreams trying to be the person other people wanted me to be, and it didn't work out very well. Because I didn't have the guts to let them hear my voice I even graduated in a something I hated, I spent 5 years of my life struggling and doing something I never wanted to do. Don't make the same mistake I made, listen to yourself first and let everyone know about it. Your personality is not something you can just put away, it'll always come out eventually, stronger than anything else, and it'll claim its piece of the cake.
