So, I don't know how many of you have been following up with my Naor stuff. This really isn't exactly about that. It is more about what I have learned in the 3 years I've been on this project, journey what have you.
Three years ago, I was (probably) frantically trying to get my homework done. I was in my "Art of Animation" class at Aims Community College in Greeley, CO. I was, I'll be honest, being a bit lazy in this assignment. We had to create a character to help us in our development as animators. They would be who or what we animated. So I was a total wolfaboo back then, I'll freely admit it, this was 2011 by the way. It seems really far away, but not.
So, back to my homework. I didn't want to create a new character, so I found this doodle. I decided to use it to get my homework done. I would redraw, or revamp, the character. Then over my assignments, mostly just tons of drawings to get familiar with him, he grew and changed over time.
This isn't even half of them lol. Now, today is February 14th, 2014. Well, the date of that second image, the first ever assignment I turned in for Ahk, was February 14, 2011... I consider that date to be his birthday (so he is three years old today). That day, to me, means a lot. If you have been watching me over these last three years, you know that I have kept drawing him. I year later, I took my Art of Animation class again. I had been drawing Ahk since then, but not very much. My results were creating Koko, on February 6th, 2012 (but I don't consider that his birthday, I needed it in April to fit the Naor timeline XD).
I'm not going to rant on Koko, this journal will be too long if I do. I will really quick go over a project that almost got finished.
So I was creating an intro to Naor a while back, but actual Naor didn't exist yet. It was going to be an animation to introduce Ahk's past to you guys, where his story begins, but I never finished it. I can't show it now, because it WILL give away important information. However, I will say if any of you remember that project, and you have it on your computer somewhere, well, lucky you.
February 14, 2011 for me is the day I started this whole thing. Ahk, Koko, Naor, Tuhk, Aros, Fahle, my degrees in both Animation and Illustration. My interest in storytelling has taken me far, but without a story to TELL, this trip would have been rather boring.
