Artwork created for a private client I finished in June that I finally have ability to release. I had a lot of fun with this one! Intended to be an insert into a record album or CD.

I don't think I can release the story though behind the album. I have thought about making wall scrolls of this. Dunno yet.

11x31inches, copic marker, ink, colored pencil and Unryuu paper

Sketches and thumbnails for this image! :'D

Looks amazing!
Did you use an ordinary marker, or a brush-pen for this? The textures look very authentic!

I used lots of medias in this, mostly a brush pen ( www.dickblick.com/products/pen… ) and copic markers. :'D The paper itself is also textured.

Wow, looks like a great pen! The tip is super-fine!
I've long been searching for a medium at is easy to use and produces that sort of look. I've been using Tombow brush pens for years, but I'm always on the look-out, in case something as good or better comes along! Faber Castell makes a pretty good one, too.

The more the media, the more complex the look ;)

It really is a great pen, it took some time for me to control, but I love it now. :la: I don't think I've used Tombow before, but I know FC pretty well. I have a few of those.

I like Tombows because they're water-soluable; you can get some nice washes out of them.
Heh, I'm a nervous inker - I'm always looking out for something that might make the job easier :P
It's so hard to keep enough control, but still get that loose, brush-like look. You've done a better job than I could!

The stairway is a nice feature it helps direct your eye upward and appreciate all the curves in the mountain. The fire helps continue your eye up the rest of the piece.

Im such a composition nut. Its second to lighting.

aha me too! I get really lost into making a good composition and good visual hierarchy. I think it's due to my work in comics already and trying to make sure my individual panels, the whole page, the whole spread, the whole books composition works. XD

yeah I can see where comics would come in handy for that.
I just love foundations of art and exploring why we do what we do.
