They Live by Ahkward They Live by Ahkward
Recently I've had some issues trying to remember why I make art in the first place. Having a job 4 days a week that severely cuts my art time is
far more taxing than I thought it would be. I've had doubts about my artwork and my own career. However I love to listen to this song to remember
those before me. While I'm not a religious person, I am spiritual and this song reminds me of my ancestors who I find comfort in. I made this
picture about six months ago and found it cleaning out files and organizing things to post later. This was just a sketch I'd made, maybe someday
I'll finish it.

They live in you
Music and lyrics by Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and Lebo M
Performed by Samuel E. Wright

Ingonyama nengw' enamabala

Night
And the spirit of life calling
Mamela
And a voice
With the fear of a child asking
Mamela

Wait
There's no mountain too great
Hear these words and have faith
Have faith

They live in you
They live in me
They're watching over
Everything we see
In every creature
In every star
In your reflection
They live in you

They live in you
They live in me
They're watching over
Everything we see
In every creature
In every star
In your reflection
They live in you

My jaw dropped seeing this. It's such beautiful work Ahks! You'll make your way for art soon enough once you get into the rhythm of things. I have faith you'll be able to go back to your illustrations and get Naor moving once more. Keep your chin up Ahks. You're doing well so far <3

side note: beautiful song. I first heard this when I saw Lion King on broadway and seriously. If you ever get a chance to come back out here you need to see it. It's beyond beautiful!

When I was up in NYC last year for NYCC it was on Broadway, I wanted to see it so bad. ono I couldn't afford it and my food during the con.

I guess mostly I fear being stuck in this job. u_u I don't want to get dependent on the money from this job and never get back to my artwork.

It's under stable. Definitely something that you should try to schedule next time you're up here.

Well it's your first year out of school and trying to figure out how to make it so it'll definitely be an adjustment. I think everyone gets like that after since it is hard to get into your job no matter what field of study. You'll get back to it though. You've always been able to work it out in your favor in the long run!

Ahk you are an artist and that is why you art <3  It is natural to you.  If you don't art you'll get depressed.  take my word for it, that's what happens to me.

The problem is I already draw rarely now. 4 days a week I work and I am so tired when I get home since I get home so late. I'm already starting to get depressed and it is one reason I don't post as much.

I'm sorry you're so worn out... maybe set aside a few hours a week to do nothing but art... Like on Fridays I have a rule that I don't have to do any homework.  I do hope you feel better, and I will say that your happiness is the most important thing in your life, so just try to keep that alive.

This is so pretty, I obviously love the skull the most XD

May I ask what your job is? :o
I'm just a very curious person haha

Skulls are ways awesome. Lol my job is "cap2" at a local Wal-Mart. Basically I unload trucks and stock shelves for 8 hours. It sounds simple and it really isn't. We typically have 2-3 hours to unload a 53' truck between 5-9 of us and you have to be fast on your feet the whole time. Not bad, just tiring. XD then you have to pull pallets (the stuff we sell) out to the aisles that are taller than you. I am strong, but even I can bArely move them sometimes. Then stocking shelves. Not hard and my favorite part personally. That one just is doing a number on my knees and feet making them sore pretty much all the time. So it isn't exact hard... just damanding on the body and I am too tired to draw since my shift is 2pm-11pm.
