Mkezerinyao by Ahkward Mkezerinyao by Ahkward
Mkezerinyao is the Naori word.... sort of a one-word proverb for living together peacefully. Sort of the overall theme of Naor. I've had this idea in my head for months, but I never made time for it. So I did a speedpainting under 5 hours.... damn i never paint like this anymore. I have no idea why I felt like it, but I did.

Text on the right is one version of the naoru language, the older version no longer used in modern times. This single phrase pretty much sums up my entire feeling about this story and what its message is. I will leave you to interpret it from here:

Ara, erskehrs dhelo mkezerintita olo unk, serehrsmon lo uake dono euzure la neinnina; ot ua der ameronk.
If we could have lived together peacefully in that way, everyone would listen to the quiet voice within this forest and mourn over the noise.

Mhm, Blue is associated with Tuhk, sort of the Naor version of Hades. the main difference is he is the personification of the universe, the dark side of it anyway. He is darkness and seeks to extinguish all light. Pretty much everything but himself. The reason blue is associated with him is that he is the only creature in Naor with naturally blue eyes. Blue eyes do occur rarely in Natives, but it's insanely rare and usually the child is uh, well, put down. The Naori fear that Tuhk could be possessing that body to attack them. So pretty much nothing with blue eyes does well in Naor.

This makes me sad since I personally have blue eyes and I won't last long there if I was born into that world. However they understand that people moving onto the island might naturally have them and don't always see them as evil. Some natives do, but most aren't that superstitious of people from other cultures. It's just a weird death-associated color. XD

Oh all this is so interesting I love random facts like this! Thanks for telling me! ^^
Haha but yeah I'm with you on the sad part though. I myself just like you also have blue eyes, so I guess we both would be in trouble if we were born there hehe. XD

Mh. Every culture has things others would consider abhorrent, so I wanted to make sure things like that happened in Naor too

Indeed, sadly abhorrent things are a part of reality and I do think it's necessary to include some aspects of that in stories, since that gives them more depth and a sense of reality. Those stories are, in my opinion the best ones!
Looking foward to see more of your comic and learn about Naor culture! ^^

From looking at the Naoru in this picture and trying to pronounce the anglicized version right, I have a question.

Are you fluent in Naoru? X3

Grammar-wise, yes, vocab, no. XD If I read it slowly, I can make it out, but for some words I still need my dictionary with me.
