How I start art by Ahkward How I start art by Ahkward
So this is just a quick little thing I put together to show my process for thinking of ideas. I usually do these things BEFORE I even START the final drawing. In case you can't read my handwriting here is what I wrote. If you have any questions, please ask!

1.  Shark sketches, only two of about a dozen.

2. Sketching the type of shark before starting gives me the sort of shapes and forms in the body to help decide with patterns later once I start the tattoo.

3. Plus it is a good habit to do warm-up sketching.

4. I drew the shark turning right, then left. Most people are comfortable with things looking only left or only right. Doing both helps understand perspective and shape/form better.

5. Sketch out loosely what I imagine. USE REFS!

6. Never copy from a few. Only use for ideas! Mostly I looked for patterns to use in my shark.

7. I scanned the sketch and now I am playing with coloring based on the client ideas. He approved, so now I will work on the clean version. BE PATIENT! Lines take time.

8. Never be afraid to try multiple things or version. This was #4! I wanted a few options and liked this the best.

9. Now to clean and ink it. :D

Indeed! Sketches really help me get ideas instead of diving in.

This is cool and seems really helpful, I might use this for future reference if I ever want to try to draw something!
