I love how unique you make portraits. You have such skill with such an unforgivable medium. To me the black in white in this composition represents the colorless, depressive winter. The pop of color you have inserted encourages spring's arrival and hope. Even the expression of the subject includes a look of hope. I love also how the flowers are strategically placed as well as even the hairs on her head. The detail you have put into the eye area is incredible. I do have to disagree with the section of the critique by ihaveamooseinmyname that states, "The face itself is a little bit difficult to look at. It almost seems like there is far too much light on it, which washes the features out. I can see how the face and contours would be, but I almost want to squint to try and find them even though they are not there." I disagree only because art is an individuals original way of expressing themselves. With that said, I believe that even though some of the features are not as profound as they "should" be, I believe that it works amazingly well with your style of work.

I'm a big fan of your work and can't wait to see what you will put out in the future. Wonderful work!

Your painting is beautiful, I really like it. There are few colors and are clear, but has a good effect because it balances the eyes, nose and mouth.

I think that the face's skin is very white and makes the parts of this are lost, maybe a smooth coat of paint for darken a bit... and think that it would take a little more form in her forehead and cheek. Also the hair and flowers could marcacrse a little more to be noticed.

The flowers give a beautiful touch to the painting, for me has a etheral aspect that looks good. The neck and shoulders are perfect, I like the shadows in the first, and with the black clothes it shows the body posture.

Like a thing to part, I will noticed that the eyes of your paintings have a sad exprecion.

Colour makes a black and white picture more vibrant, more dashing. It makes
Me feel like a marigold in the white melting snow. What insights me is
Your random brush strokes that splatter to contrast the earnest sketches. Every
Colour: orange, lavender, powder blue, yellow, a hint of red,
Baby pink, blending together beyond the lines.

Colour melts off the dull space of white and the face's dull emotion. It makes
Me stare at it for a while. Her off-focused stare to somewhere symbolizes
A hopeful watch of a new spring. Behind the doors and windows, behind the shiny
Car, behind the streets, she watches the sunrise of a new spring.

I think this is a spectacular piece. The colour is very light and soft, and its bleeding affect into the shirt is very creative. The colour is not overbearing or too strong, which is much like the flowers themselves. I'm guessing you chose hydrangeas, that is what they look like to me at least. The colours that you chose are actually some of the natural colours of the flowers too, good job.
The face itself is a little bit difficult to look at. It almost seems like there is far too much light on it, which washes the features out. I can see how the face and contours would be, but I almost want to squint to try and find them even though they are not there. In comparison, the shirt is extremely dark with no highlights on it. The face and the shirt are on opposite sides of the spectrum of light.
The balance is a little askew on the portrait over all simply because of that.
The line work and the detail is incredible. The eyes are wonderfully done, a lot of people struggle to make them ever seem realistic. The extra rim around the iris really helps define them. The shadowing of the eye lid and skin below the brows helps set them in very well too.
All in all I'm very impressed!

This piece is, in my opinion, one of your most stunning. The detail of the face, in particular the eyes, and that splash of colour really draw the viewer into its emotion quite easily. The colour that bleeds through the black of the body is also very effective in giving the quiet yet expressive feeling. Not only that but it also adds to the composition of the painting.
The colours and the position, and expression, of the figure all lend itself to a soft atmosphere and a overall sensual and touching mood. You have truly and effectively captured the essence of a soft springtime. Well done!

A very nice piece with great usage of linework and slight colors. My only problem with the drawing itself is how intense the shirt is in contrast to the person and the background. The shirt coulkd work with that intensity but you need to add some more black of that shade to the drawing itself to balance out the light and faded colors with the extreme and thick black ink work. This blck does not have to be added to the peron herself but instead could be added to the background to help make the painting fuller and cover a wider range of shading.
I love this piece, and all of Agnes's work!. Especially watching her videos showing the creative process in real time.... Is there a video showing 'Soft Springtime' in process?
