This is masterful. Overwhelmingly beautiful, powerful, terrific, splendid, excellent, unique and plain PERFECT work. I feel I have said everything there is to say, but, alas!, the word minimum forces me to bore the reader of this critique, so bear with me...

The few colors employed are wonderfully expressive and chosen masterfully to match the emotions depicted. The textures are beautifully portrayed, every last detail seems to have been a labor of love. The drip, used very frequently by agnes-cecile, gains new meaning here. The girl's eyes speak tomes --- and beg for more: who is this girl? What is her story?

There is a subtle beauty here, a wonderful certain something that evokes much more than the plain painting and pulls us into a new world. That, I believe, is art. I thank you for it.
Also, love the negative space surrounding the face. Only thing to critique is a certain sporadic smudge on the nose & upper lip, otherwise - sublime.

While I am not an art critic, I do know what catches my eye, my fancy, and my heart. You've accomplished all three in this piece. I am immediately drawn to the eyes - exquisite detail and clarity. This is at once a very haunting piece and a very emotional piece - I am inextricably drawn to it. There is a suggestion of pain, perhaps suffering or abuse, and the strong will to fight back, resist, and overcome. There is absolutely nothing I would suggest changing or trying to improve upon with this - I love it as is, and will be adding it to my collection shortly. Very well done!!

Everybody wants to see a work of art and have to take a second glance. I find that in this. Your mastery in the medium and how it plays with water and a dry brush and so forth really add a lot of depth and perception to this piece. You're clearly very skilled with inflicting emotions and an overall message through your work. The abstract realism draws people to the colors and the eyes especially. I would only change two things: 1. Create a consistency with your skin tones. 2: follow through with the tears, it's a major part of this piece and i would be okay with seeing more. I find this piece very interesting. A job very well done. (:

This is truely an amazing piece of art work. I can feel so much emotion coming out of it. You can feel depth of the pain and sadness in her eyes. I feel that looking at this picture makes me think she is a child of war, and the poem adds to that as well. "I tied my hands behind my back now I can just stay quiet" Makes me think that she may be a prisoner in a war taken captive. I really love the technique and the colors that you used in this picture, I feel that this whole piece just brings about the sadness of this child. Amazing work.

thank you :)
She isn't a child of war for me, but I like that people like you can see this hypothetical story and other stories about her past. I just give you the feeling.

Even though I'm a digital artist myself but seeing traditional art is just more amazing and more hand done. The shadows and color in the work is amazing really show the detail in the in the person. Also she looks like she has been through the worst of times like war or poverty. The emotion in the face is really amazing giving it a a like I said before it really does give it life like appearance that a person gives to someone. Anyway I personally love this image for what it is doing that is not digital and it's all traditional.

this is a really beautiful picture executed with a great technique. I love how realistic the girl looks although she is in a sureal picture. All the proportions of the face are realistic (albeit her eyes might be a bit too big) something you son't see often in pictures nowadays. On top of that, her eyes isn't perfectly symmetrical. Artist have always tried hard to avoid asymmetry in pictures, because they think it's ugly, but peoples eyes aren't perfectly symmetrical, so it just makes her more realistic.

Now the poem, I don't get that one at all, and that just adds to the surreal affect.

Basically I've never seen anyone mixing syrealism with realism like this before.

I especially love the atmosphere she gives off, although it might just be me, she looks like she has been beaten up, and is staring at the offendor with condemning eyes. It makes me feel guilty even though I haven't done anything.

This may very well be my favorite of yours.

I literally leaned back in my seat when I clicked open the image. The eyes are incredibly intense and beautifully done. The red violet surrounding her eyes is heavy when needed and yet so delicate on the white of the sclera and the bottom lid.The way the colors move throughout are just lovely, and the red of her hair and of the wounds stand out strongly while aiding in bringing out the rest of the details.

The only area that doesn't seem as strong to me is the lips, though I can't entirely figure out why. The upper lip almost feels as if it needs a darker shade or more contrast. I'm not altogether sure.

Otherwise, this piece is stunning and moving. Fantastic work. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>

I'm not an amazing artist but this is just beautiful. I love the wisps of firey red hair. The eyes are magnificently realistic and you can see the glassy sheen that shows only when you cry, not the mention the tear drips are prefectly placed. I can't express how much i love this artwork, though i'm trying my best. Colors you used for the face is so visually appealing i can't get over it. Also, me, being the one that adores freckles, loves the small spattler you added on the cheeks and nose for that effect. Lastly, the nose is extremely proportionate to everything else, and i find it to be downright cute, the same goes for the lips. To me thay almost seem cracked, not sure if that was the effect your going for, but i think it pulls everything together. Your artwork seems simple, but if someone truely believes that there wrong. You must have put a lot of work into it, no matter how much time you spent. This is my first critique and I do hope I have done your artwork justice.

Amazed by your style.
This picture really stopped me in my tracks! Love the emotion it captures. So much so that I used it the visual for one of my songs called 'Crying'

I love the associated poem with this. I'm not smart enough to quite get it though. What are "passive tears"? Like, tears you can't control?

I can't like this, even though it's a stunning image, nor can I offer a critique. Too many bad memories.

i love the colors you used. most people just use a pale brown for a base skin tone and work from there but pieces like this are perfect- you've managed to make this look like skin without a dull beige underneath and every thing on the face is an actual distinct color. i also love that you did this in oil and somehow it's come out in some places as soft as watercolor, except still dramatic the way oil should be.
I loooooove your work... beautiful <3
