I thought this was an outstanding piece when I came across it, and I chose to critique it since I really appreciated your impressive composition.

I rated you high in impact since I felt like this piece expressed a lot of meaning perfectly in such a compact, simple fashion. I thought you were able to precisely express a sense of hopelessness, uselessness and confusion simply by means of the subject matter's posture and stroke. This was probably one of the best aspects of this piece. The jaggedness of the lines, the awkwardness of the pose, and stray lines are effective at showing a sense of malfunction that is apparent enough to recognize subconsciously without getting lost in the forefront of your mind.

I scored this high in originality because I rarely see something like this done in the way that this has. Normally I'd expect an artist to rely on the subject matter to express themselves, however this piece uses technique to express it instead. As mentioned before, this enables the viewer to understand implicitly and resonate with the artist.

The technique here was quite amazing since it played such a huge role in transmitting the message of the piece and giving it a haunting feel to it, something almost robotic. It was really the composition of the piece that caused me to rate technique to highly, and I have to say this is a very effective use of the triangle shape. The focus drifts from red hair, to tangled mass, and then back to the hand, with many smaller triangles in the piece to capture to rest of the subject. I thought you very effectively directed the eye in this manner.

Vision was rated high because this clearly expresses a point of view, and it does so well and in a unique manner. Because I have mentioned it multiple times in the other paragraphs, I won't go into it in as much detail here. The only real drawback here is that I was thrown off by title and cannot really see the link between that and the art piece. Perhaps it just means something different to me, but I enjoyed it all the same. I could tell it was going somewhere, but I just couldn't see where.

All the same, you did an amazing job, and I'm sorry I couldn't really give a harsher critique.

thank you for all your words. (:
I love your critique! But for the title it's strange.. when I finished my work, I saw it and I thought only "be consumed". The strong pose reflects a strong feeling, a feeling of passive and quiet violence. All this "be consumed" is due to a sort of apathy, in my mind. It isn't a presence of a heavy body, it's very close to nothing.

Here some little clues to understand the link between the title and the pic! I hope it is lesser hard now.. although I'm not good at explaining (especially not in my language) :P

thanks again for each star.

You're welcome, I figured the title was probably something along those lines. I can definitely see it now, but I probably would have pegged this more for "worn out." To be fair, though, apathy is more or less a side effect of being worn out. It makes sense, I really like this.

I have been very stressed out by college finals this week. When I found enough time on a Saturday night, I drew this in pencil on 18x24" paper (see link below). Your work is so strong, Agnes, I want to redraw each image so that I can better process its essence.

I come back to look at this painting every few weeks. This has got to be one of my favorite artworks of all times so far.

If I looked long enough I started to cry. I'm not sure why, but I'm ok with that. It's so chaotic and disrupting, that feels like the right response.

My god, this is exactly the type of feel I go for in most of my drawings, but you do it so much better haha. Might have a critique up; this is beautiful, but it's 2 am.
